Now I understand why nobody watches Women's College World Series softball any longer.

The NCAA playoffs and the WCWS are all just so we can see who comes in second to Oklahoma for the national title. They're fast on their way to wrapping up their fifth consecutive world championship. The entire time they are playing in Oklahoma City it's in front of the Home crowd. Having the World Series 20 minutes from home must always be nice.

Saw today where Belhaven finished runner up at the D3 softball World Series.

Get this, they were ranked in the top 8 the entire season. They just built a new facility that is one of the best in any division (non Power 5).

They lost their conference tournament and the NCAA sent them to an unranked team for the regional, they had to go on the road to the Super. And then had to play the World Series on the team that beat the a home field.

former MSU star Iyhia McMichael was the color analyst for their championship game. She did a good job.

but yeah, championships should be as neutral as possible.

If the championship game was in Spokane, how would they explain the lack of people in the stands?

Well, it will be their 4th straight, but your point is valid. They actually looked vulnerable at times this year and lost a series to Oklahoma State and Texas. They got shellacked by Florida and had to go into extras to win their elimination game against them. Texas was actually the one seed in the tournament and the favorite to win it all.

I’ll do you one better though, not only do they not leave their backyward for the WCWS, they don’t leave it for the Big 12 tournament either because it’s in the same ballpark. Also, since they’re a perennial national top 8 seed, they host a regional and super regional, which means they essentially don’t travel at all once their regular season ends.

Gonna be fun to see how they do in the SECT over the next few years. I think the rotation locations are set until like 2030:
2025 - Georgia
2026 - Kentucky
2027 - Ole Miss
2028 - Missouri
2029 - Mississippi State

Watch any longer, not sure I started.....

And if this holds any water, why does Nebraska never win the College World Series?
Well, it's a little bit different since the Big 12 tournament was never played in Nebraska, and the Big Ten has only played theirs at Schwab field for the past like 6 years. The Big 12 has ALWAYS played their softball tournament in Oklahoma City. Nebraska also won the Big Ten tournament this year for the first time ever.

Also, the average February high temperature in Norman, OK is about 55 degrees and the average February high temperature in Lincoln, NE is about 39 degrees. The average March high temperature in Norman, OK is about 66 degrees and it's about 50 degrees in Lincoln, NE. That's a big difference in terms of fan support and recruiting. That's probably Nebraska's biggest problem.

Women's softball is a lot different now. It gets a little more like the WWE every year. I just watched a girl from Oklahoma get a walk. She turned around, stomped the ground, and threw her back straight down, then she yelled at her dugout before she went first. I remember when players just walked to first base after you walked.
She got a walk!
I understand getting fired up and trying to get your teammates ignited, but this is a little ridiculous.

I tried to watch softball a few years ago. I just can’t. It’s just awful. And I like women’s sports in general, like tennis & soccer.

Yeah, I mean… I see baseball players do this too and I’m like … c’mon… you walked on a pitch you should have swung at or, better yet, you struck somebody out looking on an absolute gift from the umpire.

Explain yourself, @BulldogBlitz
The mention was a random name of Spokane sice the world series was hosted in okc. Hardly a neutral site, but they probably would have trouble shipping (yet another) ou and anyone south out to sone way off spot and getting folks to go.

Who knew six packers would be overly sensitive to okc, Spokane, or softball not involving any team in maroon and white.

Maybe not sensitive so much as confused. It just seemed like a random nonsensical statement. I just thought maybe there was some reference I was missing. 🤷‍♂️

Actually she's really the only one I've seen act like that and it's embarrassing. She acts that way when anything happens with her at the plate.

State fans: I wish our coach/players would show some emotion/fire
Also State fans: All that emotion in a natty is ridiculous and hard to watch
