has his hitting coach and pitching coach, will we be getting any other coaches? I'm assuming that Wade Hedges was also shown the door. I have heard the Chris Rose rumors, and he would be a good get as well. Especially since Meridian CC has outrecruited us lately.

I think you have it right. All signs point to Rose being named the Director of Baseball Ops and someone will be brought in to replace Hedges as the "volunteer coach."

I don't know, but I like what I see so far. Cohen said day one that he was very serious about recruiting, and he ain't kidding after getting Burroughs and Thompson. Plus, it looks like Thompson is a good pitching coach as well. It looks like a very solid core to build around.

I'd totally forgotten what it felt like to believe the baseball program had its eyes set on a major goal or prize. It feels good.

Sorry to say but your signs are wrong. The Dir of Baseball Ops will be filled soon, and not by rose.

mean it was a player, but I'm wondering if it isn't Justin Pigott. He just graduated, I believe, and was more like a Cohen type player than a lot of our other players. He also hasn't signed a pro contract.

My second guess is John Lalor.

That wouldn't be bad at all. Usually, the gritty players that aren't naturally gifted really have to earn everything they get in a sport and make great coaches. Pigott gave it everything and I doubt his fastball topped 80 mph very often.

someone with a good personality that is good at handling all types of people. Because this job is the one that handles on campus visits and I think the camps so you are recruiting on campus and handling lots of parents.

I have every set they made, 88-93 I believe. Back in the days when they let little boys get on the dugouts to get autographs.

Nope, he wasn't a player last year.
you are a smart guy..think of how the normal progression of from a player to coach goes.

I have every set from that period also, and I'm pretty sure that I have them all autographed. Definitely going to look for them in my old closet at my parents house next time I'm home. I still remember how mad that I was when the NCAA outlawed them at least that's what I think happened. Maybe some liability issues with all the kids on the top of dugouts.

I have a 1985 program with autographs of most of the better players on the team, Palmeiro, Clark, Brantley, Thigpen, McDonald, Thiessen, et al. One of my prize possessions in my bulldog room.
