Who is the going to be the preseason favorite to win the West???

LSU still has the most talented team, but their schedule looks really tough.

they have TN, Georgia and LSU but all at home. Their conf road games are all games they should win.

I know its hard to pick a team to win the west that has no established QB, but I think they're the favorite.

I think Auburn could slip in and win it, but I am still going with LSU. Bama has a tough schedule too which will probably eliminate them. UPig isnt talented enough, and we arent cvoached well enough on the offensive side to be a serious threat.

1. LSU
2. Auburn
3. Bama
4. UPig
5. State
6. Mississippi

Even with RP they're a 1-QB team. The west is wide open, I say:

Auburn- 20%- All new offensive coach and scheme, Kodi Burns is pretty good though
Alabama- 20%- Even with St. Nick it will take a year or two
LSU- 10%- I could walk-on there as QB this year, plus hard schedule
Arkansas- 20%- Too bad they lost everybody
Ole Miss- 15%- I heard Sneed just shot down a fighter jet with a football. Well, we'll finally find out.
State- 15%- Our easiest schedule in a long time.

I dont think Bama can overcome road games @LSU, Georgia, and Tenn...thats 3 losses right there
Auburn has the best chance due to road at MSU, Vandy, and Mississippi

It comes down to LSU and Auburn. LSU is way too talented to have a 17'ing 10% chance. Saying that State and Mississippi have a better chance than them is ludicrous. Their QB's will be just fine and better than anything we or Mississippi have.

What does that mean? Playing 2 QBs is rarely a good idea, you know.

I think Auburn will win the west to answer the original question, but I think the division is going to be as bad as it's been in a long time.

On what grounds do you base this? They're either gonna start a guy from Harvard or a redshirt freshman, neither of whom have experience in the SEC or half the athleticism of Perrilloux. This is now a major concern in Tigerland. They have a top tier supporting cast but they'll be vulnerable as hell behind center.

1 fact going into next season. Regardless of how LSU's quarterback play is, someone will have a career game against us and we'll lose by 30.

A top tier supporting cast will make most any QB look at least decent.

and they'll probably still make a big-time bowl game. But Perrilloux made the Tigers talented enough to win another SEC Championship and compete for a national title. Now, not so much. Games at Auburn and Florida in the first half of the season don't look winnable anymore. With their schedule and returning talent, Auburn is now the clear-cut favorite in the West. Luckily for LSU, they don't have to travel to Georgia or Bama this year, but losing a quarterback THAT talented is tough. It's a good day to be anyone else in the SEC.

I agree. State, UA, AU have 17 starters back, OM has 19 (i think) then LSU and Arkansas with 12. LSU has the talent on the bench. Arkansas, I am not so sure. However, I still think it could be anybody's year to win the west. Just a quess at this point but.......

1. Auburn 25%
2. LSU 20%
3. State 15%
4. OM 15%
5. Bama 15%
6. Ark 10%

Damn. If we had only shown some capability to move the bowl in the Liberty Bowl and not lost Brown, I would feel alot better about our chances.

Georgia and Florida are going to be head and shoulders above everybody else in the SEC. They will both contend for the BCS national title game. The Auburn game probably does go from a 50-50 game to an Auburn favored game. And this probably makes Auburn a more solid favorite than before to win the SEC West, but to me they were the favorite to begin with.

I think their O is going to torch the SEC next year followed by other programs jumping on the "up tempo O" band wagon in the following years. The new 40 second rule is going to play right into the hands of the teams running the no huddle Os as well.

I also think they will beat UGA in Atlanta.

Kodi Burns is the QB. He's the worst passer in the SEC now that Henig and Schaeffer are gone.

We'll be doing very well to match last year's 4 SEC wins.

Auburn
LSU
Alabama
MSU
Arkansas
Mississippi

The top 3 have a legitimate chance to win the West. The bottom 3, not so much.

Plenty of teams defended UF's last year w/ a heisman winner at qb. As someone pointed out below, AU will not have a heisman contender much less winner at qb. LSU and AU are the clear frontrunners. I think Arky is the only team that has no real shot because of who they lost.

I agree with that. I don't give us much of a shot either mainly because our team still needs to learn how to win. I think the confidence side of the game is going to be a bigger hindrance to us than anything.

MSU has a really legit shot. Losing Johnson, Brown, Wesley, Hughes, and Prince for this season hurts your chances a lot, but you still have the easiest SEC schedule in the West, and you return a lot of starters, along with having a lot of seniors on the team. I'm not picking MSU to win the West this year, but this is a wide open year, and I wouldn't be surprised by it.

LOL, we don't deserve any, but I actually think that Ark will finish last in the west. They lost too much of their offense, and Casey Dick has not proven to be a good QB to this point. I think 4th/5th place will come down to the Egg Bowl (AGAIN). I honestly feel like we will beat you this year, but I'm sure you honestly feel like you will beat us, so I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. Good news for MSU and OM is that I think both teams could go bowling again this year. MSU will have to pick up their offensive production as the Def bailed them out alot this year. OM will have to have better all-round play, especially at QB (hopefully that will happen this year).

Ole Miss has going for them at least as far as QB production is hope. You have a top shelf recruit starting. Our offensive production has our hopes hanging on a 0-0 spring game and the history of 4 years of 100+ ranked offense. But if we can get 8 wins aGAIN, I'll take the 100+.

I would too. But the odds of winning 8 again with such a bad offense aren't good. I know we did it last year, but it's not likely to happen again.

aren't most teams a "1 qb" team? and how can anyone with any sense think state has a better chance at winning the west than lsu? that's just plain dubm.

#1. LSU's schedule this year
#2. They don't have a good QB
#3. How many games did they win last year by the skin of Jacob Hester's teeth, and a lot of luck? (no man-crush here, though)
#4. Don't forget they still lost 2 SEC games even last year.

I don't think LSU finishes at the bottom of the West, by any stretch, but I think think they have the least chance of winning it.

I like Auburn to win it, but they've got a lot of offense to learn.

It's still rediculous to claim that LSU has the worst chance to win the division out of anybody.

We got "lucky" just as often as LSU did last year; their QB will probably be better than ours; and don't forget that we lost 4 games last year.

By the way, if you think Arkansas has as good of a chance to win the division as anybody, then you're an idiot.

mind that anyone who claims to follow the sec thinks msu has a better shot at winning the west that lsu (even without a qb returning with any experiece). that's just not very intelligent.

that he is claiming OM to have a better chance too when they won ZERO conference games last year and now have a new coach to adjust to. granted an old O < a new Nutt but there are still growing pains that will occur.

Stating that LSU has less of a chance to win the SEC than MSU and OM is retarded at best.
