if Raffo isn't hired. As long as he coached us and as much as most of our fan base still loves him, he's going to be a thorn in our side as long as he's still in Starkville trying to undermine the new coach. It's a shame he couldn't be like John Wooden at UCLA or Johnny Vaught at Mississippi in the sense of being former great coaches who continued to come to games and support the program long after they retired.

If he wants to stick around and help with baseball camps and such, who cares... I doubt he'd interfere with practices, games, and the actual running of the team.

I agree. If he wants to help out, I welcome it. But if he is going to whine about it, then go ahead and go but leave your money.

I think he would interfere with the team as long as Raffo is around. That's another reason for him wanting Raffo- so that Raffo can handle the practices and whatever he doesn't feel like doing and he can still stick his nose in the baseball team's business.

Him leaving for Arizona is probably more of a blessing, as sad as that may sound.</p>

many former Ole Miss coaches still live around Oxford. Some that coach other places still have homes and/or land there (Tuberville, etc.).

Are there any former MSU coaches that still live around Starkville? I can't remember any, but I guess maybe there are.

Paul Gregory still lived there until his recnt death, Polk apparently had land that he gave the University, and I saw Richard Williams eating lunch at the Cotton District Grill yesterday, I don't know of he has land or not.

i would rather him leave. that way if he decides to write yet another manifesto it may not be associated with us. then we could forgo the accusations of practicing too much and too long....which after this season is high quality comedy to accuse us of practicing too much.

The land Polk is giving the University, is that the same land he got for being the 'pitchman' on selling the lots?

I've seen leftovers from the "O" era still around town but other than that I haven't seen any former coaches that are still around Oxford.. (yes I live here). Who else is local still? Also I think Tubs owns land that he is hoping to make a lot on the sale of not due to any sentimental enjoyment or being attached to the town... from what i've heard he is only in Oxford 1 time a year and he stays in a hotel with his team.

Brewer is still there, the old DC for OM/USM is still there, Kehoe is still there and doesn't want to leave.....same for Thompson, Saunders, Neilsen, Warner.......seems like more, but I can't call their name right now.

Nall's family (AU) was still there.....same for Dunn (AU).....not sure if they still are.

I'm going off memory....I'm sure there are more.
