hitter, instead of intentionally walking him... Same situation I posted about a
few weeks back and got crucified. How is it a mistake today, but not 4 weeks
ago to Mahtook? Also, you set up a force at any base, which aids in obtaining an out somewhere. If you don't want a guy to beat you, intentionally walk him and take any chance of a mistake out of your pitchers hands. Cohen once again stated that they wanted to pitch around him. If he didn't learn from the previous incident that our pitchers aren't capable of throwing a ball in that situation, why not just have Thigpen stand up and call for intentional walk?</p><p class="MsoNormal">
Smart baseball says walk a hitter who is that good to set up forces everywhere,
especially since he's knocked a dent in every baseball he's put metal on all
weekend. Play the percentages. It may backfire but the percentages are in your favor and you didn't let one of the opponents better/hotter hitters to beat you.</p><p class="MsoNormal">Can't blame the loss on one play and hopefully he and the team all learned a lot from these last few weeks. Future looks pretty good, just need some bats to fill in, especially for Vickerson. That kid gave his all and will be missed.
