Today Coach talked about how special of a place PSU is and how many coaches don't want to leave for just another job. Then he went on to say that some people regret their decision to leave and have been actively trying to come back to PSU since they left. Who instantly came to your mind when he said the last part about trying to return to PSU?

Me: Joe Moorhead

Moorhead immediately comes to mind. Gotta believe he had a terrible experience in Starkville (is it possible for anyone with an intellect above thta of Junior samples to have a good experience in Starkville?). Apparently one of the reasons he left Oregonn to take the Akron job because he wanted to be closer to home (Pittsburgh).

Please, no, not Moorhead.

I have to agree with you here. Also, if Moorhead would be the next OC, #9 fits his offensive scheme better than #15. I’m not ready to give up on #15, he has all the tools, I’m not sure he had the weapons or play calls this year to show them all.

If your Head Coach re-hires Joe Moorhead as his OC I hope you personally kiss Drew Allar’s asz goodbye. There will be absolutely no reason for him to remain at PSU. He probably learned this lesson the hard way vs Rutgers.

You Franklin Fanatics are a sorry lot, but that’s what makes you periodically entertaining.

How about John Donovan, Franklin’s first OC. He’s had about 10 jobs since he left, and has worked himself up to Senior Offensive Analyst in the NFL. I believe that post is above water boy, but below backup ankle tapper.

Allar would fit in Michigan offense more than he would at psu. Beware.

You Franklin Fanatics? What in that post made you refer to me as a Franklin fanatic? There’s a reason why I put you on ignore months ago. Not sure why I took you off recently. Back you go. F off.

Even Troy Aikman was smart enough to transfer to UCLA after Barry Switzer introduced the wishbone at OU.

A QB needs to know when their skills don’t match the head coach’s offensive “vision”.

Surely not who James was referring to but Dick Anderson comes to my mind. Left PSU for Rutgers after PSU won the national championship, Had some moderate success and actually beat PSU in Beaver Stadium. Ultimately returned to PSU.

That was my 2nd thought but a distant 2nd cuz Moorhead is a PA guy and he led us to our highest high under CJF.
If Joe Moorhead had been "trying to get back to Penn State since he left", as Franklin put it in the press conference, he would be here by now. Either picked up as OC in 2020 or 2021 when OC hires were made. Or in 2022/2023 as an upgrade over Yurcich. Or 2024?

Sounded like a sales pitch to me. Come work at Penn State, everyone loves it here, sorry they left, very special, families, culture, etc.

Gattis is a great guess, left for essentially a lateral move to Alabama and more money, probably irked Franklin. And hasn't been highly succesful at the 4 schools he's been to in the 6 seasons since he left. If he's wanted to come back to Penn State it would be as OC and I'm not convinced he's at the top of Franklin's list.

Jesus save us. Dick Anderson was my gym teacher when I was in 11th grade and he was doing his practice teaching in his senior year at PSU. I’m 79 you do the math.

LOL. I guess we’re all suffering our own personal Dick Anderson flashbacks now. That loss to Rutgers came during my freshman year at Penn State and was the first “L” I ever sat through at Beaver Stadium.

I would take Gattis back as WR coach.

Allar leaving could be the best thing for all parties. He’s not developing and this offense doesn’t seem suited for him.

Or you fire the OC and get one in that can utilize his talents.....with a WR room that is a C- at best. They line up wrong, run the wrong patterns, and drop throws that really can be caught. The good news is that they get tremendous separation.....oh wait....no they don't. They have such speed though that they make the safties respect the deep ball.....oooops again...not they don't. Get an OC that can utilize his talent and maybe an OC that can pull some decent WR's in the portal.

I'd be very surprised if BOB would entertain coming back as OC to a school he used to be HC, especially after leaving said school for his dream job in the NFL.
(maybe I'm missing something?)
Coaches go where they will get paid and after you've bounced around enough you kind of get used to it. I'm not thinking he would come back, but it really wouldn't be a shock either.

Phil Schlostky, the janitor in Lasch, took some NIL money to go to PSU Shenango and regrets it.

What's a Franklin fanatic? JoeBots, can't keep track of the nicknames around here. For the record, I'm a reformed Druid who enjoys long walks on the beach with my wife, spicy food and offensive coordinators that put the damn ball in the endzone. What does that make me?

This has been kind of glossed over on the board, but the WR room is a big issue for this offense.

But has it? It's been a big question since the start of the season. I saw a hope during the WVU game but it went down the drain in about 2-3 games.
I think KLS checked out about 3 games ago. He's been a major disappointment.

In Franklin’s ten years at PSU and the 5 OCs he has hired, do you really think he will hire an OC that will bring in an offense that suits Allar and Singleton? Drop back style QB and a RB that needs to get the ball at speed and not flat footed?

If Beau can pass (and I have no idea if he can), the C- receivers become B- receivers as the safeties will have to respect the run.
