I'm glad a MSU guy is getting the job, but I really don't understand this hire. In 20 years, he's barely above .500, only made the playoffs 5 times, and no World Series appearances.
And all of that is probably a good bit above average for MLB managers as a whole. Plus, I believe he was named AL manager of the year 3 times.
They could certainly do a lot worse. But .506 says he’s pretty much the definition of average. I hope he finishes 2nd to the Braves & loses to them in the NLCS.
