We're almost done with 2023. Shane's first new big hire was OC. He went with a guy who nobody had ever heard of and from his resume looked like trash. A lot of sheeyat was thrown around about the hire. 100 miles NW of Cola was the greatest hire ever made and was done to bring the next Chip pack to Clempson. Well, that didn't happen,
So, at the end of the day, who made the best hire? Shane or Blabbo?
If you look at the O #s, they are very similar. The biggest thing that stands out to me is Mario Anderson having as good or better stats vs Will Shipley. (yes, he has been hurt some, but Mario was nowhere for the first few games). People shat here when Riley was hired and based on my observation he looks as hot as as an 80 yr old Hooter waitress. People shat when Loggains was hired saying we needed Riley.
I am not a complete Shane Train guy, but I will say he beat Dabo on this hire. If we had that CU D and talent, we would be begging Dowell to stay. Not sure if there a lot of Tiggers doing the same about their guy.

Don't let a Vandy win mess with your head!
I think we're missing the core of the question. Is Riley that much better than Loggains? Today was a great O showing as it was for CU as well. I am going back to preseason when people were anointing Riley's sweat as the same as Dabbo's. They thought our hire was a sheaayat show. I was thinking the same. I thought Dowell was a double from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The key takeaway should be that Shane did a better job than Dabo.

Agree 100%. And when you think about the OL injuries, missing your best player, and that mess of a RB room, it makes Loggs performance that much better. Can you imagine what the Onwould look like with Juice, X, healthy OL, and Mario from day 1?? We got a good one.

Agree, offensively I’m not as worried than I am about the defense. Loggins has bought some time. He seems to able to call plays based on the talent he has. Defensively, not so sure. Hoping Beamer can make the hard decisions when needed. Year to year, as it becomes necessary. For me, it’s defense now. The other thing to consider, how many comments are coming because of White? I still think a better DC will bring in recruits in the long run. I think Beamer needs to upgrade to move the program forward. Are there big DC’s out there that we can get?

That's a great point that I haven't heard many come out and say, it's just easier to say our staff sucks! And to get away from the topic for a moment the bright spots on this team besides Ratt and Leggette are Mario and Kilgore, really proud of their growth and play this year. Spencer was on fire yesterday, I lost count of how many balls that were dropped, we will see him play on Sunday for sure!

I like the offense under Loggains. As previously mentioned, he's adjusted based on what he's got left on the field after injuries and still has the offense as a viable weapon.

And Matt Rhule is now understanding what life with Satterfield as an OC is like. They rank behind the head coach-less Northwestern Wildcats, and a shade ahead (.1 points a game better) of the Iowa Hawkeyes (of the just fired their OC Hawkeyes). All in all, Nebraska is 12th out of 14 teams in the Big Ten in scoring offense.

Loggains certainly got more out of Rattler than his predecessor. A LOT more.

But he still had some head scratches with playing the wrong RB, pushing the run behind a suspect line, and not coming into the season realizing he had such an OL problem.

What I've seen of clemson is discombobulation, and lots of turnovers.

You'd have to go with Loggains at thus point, but it's closer to a toss up, imo.

Some still think Satt was running the offense vs. TN and Clem. lol

Our Total Offense is ranked 61 out of 130 teams. So, in essence, our offense is average (Clemson's, BTW, is ranked 48th). Our offense has definitely improved from what it was in the past 2 years. But, let's not do an end zone dance quite yet. Hopefully, we will continue to improve further next year. If we can do that and the defense can play like it did in Beamer's first season here, we could surprise a lot of people. And that's especially true if our Special Teams can be like they were last year.

One other thing: Paul Finebaum today called Lincoln Riley college football's most overrated Head Coach. After this season, I'd say that brother Garrett is college football's most overrated OC.

My guess is we’ve faced much tougher defenses than they have. Just a hunch.

That crossed my mind as well. That being said, we probably should not get too excited about putting a lot of points on Vandy, Jax State and Furman.
UF & MSU. That’s 5 games of really good looking O. We didn’t have that last year, with a healthy OL and more weapons on O. It’s not this year that gets me that excited. It’s think about what it would look like with a fully stocked OL.

As I said previously, we are better on offense than we were in the prior 2 years. But we do have weak links on BOTH sides of the ball and outside the field coaching staff, that need to be addressed. We should not stay the course.

Ours has been more successful in terms of expected result vs actual results. Dabo hired THE hottest OC in all of college football. Actually, the hottest assistant in all of college football. That kind of hire needs to produce immediate results. So far, it hasn't. Their offense has looked a total mess at times.

Beamer, in contrast, hired a guy nobody had ever heard of. Nobody would have been the least bit surprised if our offense cratered this year. All things considered, it's performed ok. The biggest improvement, as noted above, is in Rattler's play. It's been a total flip of the switch from last year.

It’s not just better than expected, it’s better than previous year under worse circumstances. It’s not great. But it’s moving in the right direction. Clem changed out their OC and got worse.

It appears that way but would have taken him over Mushhead any day. Lincoln sure is rich even if that is the case. So Cal promised him the key to the city as HFBC. I would imagine his buyout approaches Jimbo's.
Some knucklehead writer said the So Cal UCLA B10 conference get was much better than Texas Ok to SEC. Just the prospect of Texas to the SEC has already brightened their season. Ok may be a hot prospect for seasoned SEC teams. Exciting times ahead for the richest best conference.

If we had depth of talent at the O-line this season may have been a lot different. We graduated 3 starters off last years line. Offense would look totally different behind a good O-line. Better get a few more guys through the portal because high star freshman, are not grown up enough to play against 2 to 3 year starters on the D -line. Playing the line is totally different than having a freshman back or receiver with mad speed or skills. It’s a man’s game on the one and age plus experience matters.
