or we just didn't show anything because the media was there, or...............maybe one day a light will go off in Croom's head & he will fire Mcorvey & bring in a guy to run a real offense. Also heard Dixon didn't play but two series (must be too fat).

the same song and dance after a scrimmage the past 5 years. No it doesn't make me sick, it outright PISSES ME OFF to know that our offense is still under the same underachieving, in over his head, couldn't get hired anywhere else if he wanted to, OC. Not only under the same leadership, but this time around sporting a new salary and contract. Guess what Croom? THIS IS YOUR FAULT. You can walk away from the media, say 3 sentences and pout all you want like you have the last 5 years after a scrimmage but ultimately you're responsible for this nonsense.

...oh, wait, our only coordinator worth a **** is now in Columbia. I'm not saying Harbison won't be good. I'm just saying Croom's track record with Woody isn't anything to get excited about.

I'm simultaneously sickened and pissed. I mean, 17, is it really that much to ask to be better than 100 in YEAR FIVE? To be able to score at least one damn TD on our first and second string defenses and more than one on our third team defense? And re-read the defense's goalline stand Croom praised so much. 3 straight handoffs. 3. Telegraphing much? And if Wes wasn't tripped on 4th down, I'm betting it was handoff 4. Same ****, different year. 4-8, here we come!

We have two good QB's now right?
Losing All-SEC linemen dont hurt cause players get better right?
We had "Big-play Robert Elliot" right?
Co-Eric is replacing Tony right?
We are opening it up this year right?

Offense held hostage- Year 5. Same ol ****. Crooms and McCorvey are incapable of running a competent offense. The only difference now and in year 1 was we have a defense now that keeps us in games. I'm glad none of us here are worried LaTech...with our offense...and no WR's...and a young OL...on the road...yep, smooth sailing in Ruston

I'm not too disappointed with the QB numbers. PASSING - Carroll 12-21-130-1, Lee 13-21-111-0.

Elliott was 12-50 which isn't too bad either.

RECEIVING - Bell 4-56, Stallworth 3-56, Riley 3-36

It sounded like we moved the ball well, but couldn't finish. I attribute that partially to Dixon who only had two carries (2-27 yards, 13.5 per carry, best in NCAA history). I'm not gushing over this, but I don't think all hope is lost.

Nothing like a pre-season practice to find more to wring your hands about. Cue Coach34. Nevermind, he's already here. Wahhhh!

The defense may in fact be good again, even very good, but that doesn't guarantee us as many turnovers or points from turnovers as we got last year. That's why the first words out of my mouth after last season were that we must get a lot better on offense if we want to continue to be successful.

at what point will Croom get pissed at himself after one of these pathetic offensive scrimmages?

This **** is getting old. He now has his own damn players and we still have walk-ons wrecking havoc on our starting offense. McCorvey needs to head the fu** on and Croom needs to hire a proven offensive coordinator and let him do his thing.

...Reading the stats, it sounds like we moved the ball somewhat. We just turned it over way too many times. Carroll and Lee combined for 25-42 for 241 and 2 picks. Dixon ran the ball twice for 24 yards.

I'm not saying we're going to be a juggernaut. But lets not jump off the bridge yet.

Even if the turnover points weren't directly the reason for our Ws last year, they certainly took pressure to score more points off the offense. We could be just as good or better defensively this season and get no defensive points. That's why you can't count on points from defense in figuring how you'll win games. It just doesn't work that way. You want to make sure you get points, get them on offense.

I'm convinced the problem is Croom, not Woody. This offense is Croom's and he's responsible for the cluster17 on that side of the ball. Hell, the only two times the offense looked decent last year were UK and the TD drive aGAINST UCF. During the UCF drive, Carroll begged for option plays and essentially called the plays himself. At UK, it's pretty well known that Rockey was calling the plays. The only 2 times the offense looked decent last year were when Croom and Woody were cut out of the equation. I'm on board with Woody being fired, but if he's being handcuffed, nothing will change. Look at Jackie's offensive coordinators. We had several of them, but almost nothing changed offensively. At some point, every OC can't suck. The problem is being handcuffed by an ultra-conservative, control freak HC.

He blamed today's performance on the players. He said something along the lines of there being too many players who thought they were coaches and were making bad calls. Of course, making bad calls as coaches is only natural.

it's just the MState way. $75K is a bit high, but I could have dealt with it. I'm more pissed he got an extension. There's absolutely no pressure on him or expectation for him to perform. That's why I say it goes back to Croom. Croom is taking care of Woody because the problem is Croom himself, but he doesn't have the guts to come out and say so. The worst part of all this is that I'm at the point of thinking Croom could potentially be a good HC if he'd ever do something about the offense. But he won't because he's so damn hard-headed, and it will eventually get his *** fired.

Dixon only carried the ball 2 times. You think the stats would be different with him running the ball say 20 to 25 times like he will in a game. Vanilla scrimage, plain and simple. You want to worry, Pegues being out for the opener scares me to death.
