Yesterday the team ran for 226 yards and threw for 140 yards. Clifford had 50% completions throwing the ball. Penn State Offensive rankings to date are:

Pass Yards: 95th with 251 PYPG

Rushing Yards: 57th with 192.6 RYPG

Total Yards per game: 56th with 443.6 YPG

Yesterday’s game plan seemed very basic. A lot of emphasis running the ball from the RPO mode in the rain, which I felt slowed up the backs and potentially accounting for to many “Tackle for losses”. I felt we could have pass more utilizing the tight ends based on field conditions. Franklin was fuming on the side lines for all of the fumbles (can’t blame him). I was hoping Allar would have played a few possessions and throw the ball since Clifford was struggling at times.

Overall I am just confused on the game plan and was hoping for some changes during the course of the game to spark the offense. I know field conditions were horrible.

I’m quite sure there was a reason, I doubt Franklin just did it to make posters on this board mad. Unless you’re part of the staff and involved in the game prep, you wouldn’t know.

I have no problem with the game plan. they ran the ball over 50 times for over 200 yards. If you take away just one of those fumbles they probably have another 50 yards rushing. There was no real need to try and throw the ball with the weather and as well as the defense was playing. Clifford was not on top of his game and Washington made caught catches when needed.

Turnovers are a big deal. Even though our D did an amazing job at quick change defense, I think we score an additional 10-14 points on those possessions that ended in turnovers. If that’s the case, we’d all be feeling a little better. Maybe not destined for CFP, but more confidence as a very good but not elite team. Of course, I still want us to be elite.

I clicked on this ready to read about how offensive the game plan was. I guess I need to read the game thread for that?
