Can't make sense out of this one.

Dillon Gabriel either.

All-of-a-sudden it's KJ who??

With the exception of 3-5 schools, to me it would be a step down to join any other program, and there is no way I can believe he can get more NIL money elsewhere.
I don't get it.

I guess Gabriel will be going to to Mississippi State with his former OC from OU? Otherwise, can't make sense of that move either. But Mississippi State over OU?

Not to mention if he decides to get a degree. There is just no comparison between the 2.

He must read social media. Buckeye fans were brutal on him.

It was either Gabriel or Arnold (5* freshman) they were going to lose. They steered Gabriel towards the portal for a future with Arnold.

It'll be interesting to see how much more often this happens. A guy playing a full and successful career with a talented backup waiting in the wings may be a thing of the past. Kids want playing time and want it now, so coaches will have to asses the risk of losing backup.

Who can even remember the days when a QB would backup for 3 years to wait his chance to be starter as a senior?

Starting QB for an 11-1 and top 10 team entering the portal?

His hold on the starting QB job for 2024 was iffy at best, so he took off, he got no guarantees.

Ohio State has options or expects to, each year. Heck Joe Burrow couldn't even find the field there, Quinn Ewers is another example, they seem usually pretty loaded with QB depth, year in and year out.

So when you think about that way, and in this day and age, its not surprising, the QB had a end of the year talk with the HC and staff and didn't like what he heard and hit the portal.

I'm sure there are factors. Nevertheless, he was the starting QB of an 11-1 team and took 92% of their snaps, so his h old, at least this season was any thing but tenuous.

Seems OSU is going all in on Noland, though.

Meyer on McCord transferring:

“That made no sense. I’m still trying to comprehend it. I tried to take a position of Kyle or even Ohio State, and it just doesn’t compute.
He had a good year. I mean they beat Notre Dame as a first-time starter, 3 new offensive linemen.
You know, he’s on the 37-yard line. He threw 2 interceptions in the Wolverine game that weren’t his fault...
I’m trying to make it compute, because I want to be empathetic and I want to say, ‘OK, I understand.’
There’s no place better for Kyle than Ohio State. That place does not exist, unless he’s being guaranteed a starting spot...
I’m not ripping Kyle at all, because I don’t know him. I admire him, and I think he was in a tough situation all year. But yea, I didn’t dig in too hard because I don’t want to. But it does not compute with me. I guess I love Ohio State, and I think competition brings out the best in you."
