Ok, sorry for Tiger, but will Mickelson finish as number 1?

I would assume PM would have to win damn near every tournament he enters to even have a shot...even then, the golf rankings would probably skew the results (as they should) to keep Tiger #1.

By the way, this is Tiger's 500th consecutive week as the #1 player in the world. He's been number one since June 15th, 1997. Damn.</p>

for a couple of weeks in the early 2000's?

I could be wrong, and I'm not in the mood to look it up.

Still, 498 or whatever out of 500 is pretty incredible.

He should be #1 in money, Phil is only $2 Million behind right now.

He could easily take over the ranking if he wins a few tourney's and doesn't make anymore 9's.

They showed a statistic on Sportscenter yesterday. The gap between Tiger and Phil, 1 and 2 respectively, is large than the gap between Phil and the last ranked player.

Tiger has 5 wins and a major this year. I don't see Phil doing that.

Seems like I remember David Duval being ranked #1 for a short period of time earlier this decade. Then he completely fell off the map.
