Oklahoma was 11-2 in 2021 and lost a very good and popular coach. They hired Brent Venables, long time very successful DC with tons of experience and a couple of nattys on his resume, to guide the program. He absolutely stunk it up his first season ending with a 6-7 record in an easy conference. This year he is 4-0 and has his team looking good. Arnett had a paper thin resume and was in no way prepared for a HC job in the toughest conference in the land. He's going to have growing pains, we can only hope he improves a little each game.

The difference between the two is huge. Venables has been around for a long time and two championship caliber programs and part of the reason they were so good. Arnett was not. He was a coordinator at msu. Whose best season was 9 wins. At least Dan and Moorhead came from better programs at the top of the conference. Arnett did not so he only knows what he has seen.
