From the NY Times. Pretty much say Ole Miss can do no better than 500:
"There is reason for optimism surrounding the Ole Miss program, and fans should expect a greatly improved product on the field this fall. Let's be serious - it really couldn't get any worse than it was under Orgeron, and while Nutt may take a year or two to recruit his players and implement his system, the future is infinitely brighter than it was under his predecessor. Looking towards this coming season, the positives are a definite improvement at quarterback in Snead, a solid offensive line and a veteran-laden roster that should benefit from its 2007 experience, especially on defense. The negatives? After defining the offense last fall, there is no running game to speak of. Rebels fans should be excited for the future but be willing to ride through the rebuilding process. This fall looks like a .500 season at best, especially in the deadly SEC."
Cool mention here:
"Low point: Oh, the possibilities. The worst of a bad lot was a 17-14 loss to Mississippi State in the Egg Bowl, a game that the Rebels had comfortably in control before a poor coaching decision by Orgeron allowed the Bulldogs back in the game. Facing a fourth-and-short near midfield with about 10 minutes remaining, Orgeron chose to go for it instead of punting away, leaving Mississippi State with a short field and the momentum it needed to win the game. A field goal with less than 30 seconds to play capped the 17-point burst, and delighted the normally taciturn Sylvester Croom. One of the best moments of the year - unless you're an Ole Miss fan."
