I posted this on insiders but thought I might get some responses here.

since the Yard cocks are doing well I’m considering making part of our summer camping a trip to Omaha NE. For the CWS.

I’ve never been and finally we have a strong team and my self employed work permits the schedule

Looking for a campground within driving distance for games with preferably full hookups but at least has electric and water

as for tickets, is it easy to just buy some outside the stadium or is there a spot where teams fans sell off once their team loses?

it’s me my wife and 2 younger boys so need 4. Would prob try to attend our first and second games. And depending how those go, wait for the final, or if we lose one of the first two then attend the third as well.

I checked out the KOA which apparently books out years ahead for cws. I looked at a couple State parks but only found primitive sites or electric only.
Not sure where to look.

Hi - haven't seen from you on FGF in quite a while. Glad to know all appears well in your life.

I would love to make it to Omaha some day. Even if USC doesn't make it this year, I hope you'll at least try to attend a game or two there for the experience if nothing else (unless you're planning on pulling a Ray Tanner and not go until your team makes it ;)).

Have you tried looking to the east of Omaha across the Missouri River in the Council Bluffs, IA area? Maybe the regional chambers of commerce can offer ideas. Or maybe a local NextDoor group can offer suggestions.

Good luck, and Go Cocks!

Tix are long since sold so it's the secondary market or try to buy outside the stadium. There are usually some outfield seats for sale if you go early and stand in line.

atl-cock's suggestion of looking at Council Bluffs is a good one. That's where my son and I camped when we went. It's a short drive to the stadium.

We were able to come up with Tix in center field. If I'm able to do it again, I'd pay more and work harder to find some decent seats. The outfield is brutal in the sun and seems miles away.

Hi. Thanks!

yes I’m fine. Appreciate it. Didn’t know anyone remembered my username. I’ve been here the whole time. Signed up for insider in august for $1 or something ridiculous and basically have just posted on there.

I’ve always worked where I had just a couple weeks vacation when the gamecocks went. Now I work for myself and I can work on the road. The gamecocks look worthy of a trip so I’m strongly debating booking a trip and hope we can find tickets.

I’d rather not sit in center field. We need 4 tickets but I figured there would be people selling tickets outside the stadium even if we had to split up as 2 and 2.

hoping not 5 fortunes in price. It’s a 1200 mile tow out there at 7 MPG. Lol.

Did the place you stayed have hookups for water and sewer? Most places seem to have electric and water is even iffy.
Really need a nice campground because when we aren’t going to a couple games we need entertainment for the kids. Like a pool at the campground would be amazing.
I found a couple online. One south about 50 miles. And one going towards Lincoln that looks promising.
Even the ones towards council bluffs look like no connections.
The KOA out there is booked solid.

should I be able to buy tickets outside the stadium at a decent price? Even if I can find 2 and 2 cause 4 together prob won’t happen. Im
Not paying $100 a ticket. That’s ridiculous.

I’m thinking I’d like to attend the first two games. And if we win those. Then wait for the final if we made it. If we lost one of the first two then prob attend the elim game.

Just a primitive campsite as I recall.

Tickets are a crapshoot. It was 2014 when I went. It may just depend on what teams get there. I would use a reputable online reseller and try to get some before I got there. But... If you can't find any, I recommend going anyway. You'll figure out something once you're there.

Good luck

Rhizzlebop is a unique enough username that it stuck with me over the past few years. How did you come up with it?

It’s a weird and bizarre story that involved a roommate who apparently wouldn’t wash his dishes in our apartment when I was at USC. Me and our other roommates created a little song parody about it and sang it for him. He says he thought they were ours. But they were actually his friends from the exchange programs and he said he didn’t realIe that.
Long story short, we got it cleaned up and laughed about it and coming out of that song each of us had a nickname that ended with “.izzle”. Lol. Dumb I know but we were dumb college kids.

Yea. I looked briefly on stubhub and see anythjng decent is $150 per ticket and they climb from there. That’s ridiculous.
Might try to call their box office if they have one and see if they can add any clarity on general admin tickets or anything

So I called the stadium. She said they got rid of General admission tickets when Covid hit.
But they do sell some tickets at the box office the day of each game. It opens at 9 am and it’s first come first served. Her words were they are a lot cheaper than online at the big ticket sites.

so that might be the ticket (pun intended). And I think I Found a campground 50 miles away that has full hookups and a good policy

Some years ago, we camped at Pawnee State Recreation area near Lincoln with a small motor home. It was on a small lake there and was a nice peaceful setup. The sites had electricity and there was a pretty decent and clean shower house (we tried not to use the small shower in our motor home unless we don't have another option). The individual sites did not have water, but they did have a couple of taps from which we filled our holding tanks. The commercial campgrounds certainly have more amenities, but I've found I will usually trade all of those (except electricity) for more elbow room between sites and this state park had plenty of that. It was probably about an hour drive from Omaha.

Get there early!

Do the pedestrian bridge over the river, even if you only walk part of the way and then back.

Bridge sounds cool.
What do you mean get there early? I’m thinking if the box office opens at 9 that I’d want to be standing in line at 8 am. Is that early in your view? Im
Not the person who walks up at noon for a 1 PM game and hopes to get tickets. Lol.

I would suggest earlier. The locals can give good information. Also, from my experience at the CWS, I never paid a scalper price. As I said, this was back in 2011 and 2012.

Gotcha. So you went back then right? You talking line up at 7 am? I’ll do whatever I gotta do!

Yes I went. I would definitely consider the 7am line up. Hope it all works, you'll like it.
Gotcha. Thanks.
So the campground I found is like 50 miles away but they are flexible to our plan that if we lose out quick we will depart and get a partial refund.

so I’d basically leave our camper at 6 am and drive down and get in the ticket line. Get something. Then drive back to the camper and pick up the family and a few hour later head back down to the stadium. Lol. Like I said. Whatever it takes!

as I do that for the first game I might have a better feel on scalpers or someone selling and not have to do that for game 2.

How much do your Omaha plans depend on our being there?
100%. And my plan includes contingencies to cancel campground accommodations and get a refund just following us finding out. As well as contingencies on other camping we will do instead of.
Why do you ask other than the obvious “we might not make it” ?

I don't know how I got on this list. I suppose when I tried to get Tix in the past.

This might be your best shout to get single game tix at a reasonable price. I might try to snag some myself even though I am not planning on going at this time.

The more I have thought about it. It would seem my only option here would be to literally buy tickets to each of the first 4 games because you don’t know if the gamecocks make it if they would be in game 1,2,3 or 4. Same for 5-8. You don’t know if their second game would be from the winners or losers bracket or which day 3 or 4. So they are basically just selling tickets to people who wanna go watch regardless who’s playing.
I may go for that first 4 games and just plan to sell what I don’t use. Not sure how else to play that hand.

Would be nice to have something in hand. However I’ve gone many bowl games with no ticket plan except 2 fingers up a few hours early.
