There are no question marks. Our players overachieved their talent level, and the one talented guy we have is a WIP. The 26 wins belied just how mediocre we really were.
I suppose, worst case scenario, this year was just smoke and mirrors, and we come back down to earth hard next year.
I think it is more a case of the SEC not being very good top to bottom this year and we looked good against other very mediocre teams. Unless the SEC gets better all around next season we will likely look pretty good again.
Right, it's a bad-news-good-news situation. The bad news is that the SEC may not be that great top to bottom. The good news is that the SEC may not be that great top to bottom, so if we can bring in a quality big man, we might be able to win the thing.
This season is now the equivalent of Beating Tennessee and Clemson back-to-back two years ago. Unless this momentary notoriety brings us solid recruits it will fade into the Dust of that small capsule of Gamecock memorable moments. If we capitalize and secure a few stud recruits, then good.
Basketball is such a corrupt thug sport now that the only way to get top recruits is to pay their AAU coaches and give big NIL deals to players. Players don't care about "feel good" seasons.
That’s a possibility if we don’t get a good PG out of the portal. if we get that and CMB gets a jump shot, we are a tournament team again with a better probability of advancing next time.
I don't see where there's any sense in worrying that we won't progress unless that is what comes about. Let's see what he offseason yields.
