I am not an advocate for opting out, but after looking at the playing surface in the San Diego bowl, if I thought I had a shot at the league I might consider it. I know it is a baseball field, but it is worse than my back yard growing up.

Dirt wasn’t the problem. I remember them playing on skin as well…the dirt was hard, but fairly even. Would have been better if they left the skin.Soft. I can still see Joe Willie throwing for 400 yards across Shea stadium dirt and all, wind howling and paper flying everywhere.
True dat. It’s why they changed the rule. “The ground can’t cause a fumble.”The hard astroturf was worse than all of the above.
I got to walk on the turf at Willy B in the 80s once and I cannot believe players had any skin left after a game. Truly awful stuff. The hard astroturf was worse than all of the above.
Turf has come a long way since then!I got to walk on the turf at Willy B in the 80s once and I cannot believe players had any skin left after a game. Truly awful stuff.
