I am not an advocate for opting out, but after looking at the playing surface in the San Diego bowl, if I thought I had a shot at the league I might consider it. I know it is a baseball field, but it is worse than my back yard growing up.

Playing a football game on a baseball field is not very good. But remember this is a West Coast stadium except for maybe the Rose Bowl they do not play in SEC type football fields. Lots of fake grass and fake dirt on some of those fields. Football is supposed to be played on real grass not no fake grass. Thank goodness USC has real grass along with most of the SEC venues.

Soft. I can still see Joe Willie throwing for 400 yards across Shea stadium dirt and all, wind howling and paper flying everywhere.
Dirt wasn’t the problem. I remember them playing on skin as well…the dirt was hard, but fairly even. Would have been better if they left the skin.
