Do you want out of jury duty? No fail method
I’m a good citizen. I’m planning on being out of the country in September and was afraid that mucking this up would ***** my travel plans. It looks as if everything is shipshape, got my badge and everything.

Having a sister who is a retired cop gets you excused from serving on an “assaulting a police officer” jury. Just saying.

I was summoned and was selected for grand jury (and foreman) for twice a week in early March 2020 - June 2020. COVID hit. County couldn't figure out how to manage remote sessions to proceed so no grand jury. My selection was extended every week until NOVEMBER 2020 when I was thanked for my extended service and relieved.

I was on a hung jury in federal court in VA one time. The judge seemed a little miffed. I thought the lawyers should have asked the inappropriate question at the time of selection.

I have always wanted jury duty. Got the call once. I went to the courthouse and before jury selection began, the judge addressed the prospective jurors. He said we were lucky in that only one jury was needed that week, and he doesn't intend to take a long time selecting it. The first group was called up and the attorneys started asking questions. They tried to excuse a couple of them but the judge wouldn't let them. Through questioning we found out that one of the potential juror's sister-in-law was one of the attorney's representing the defendant. The prosecutor asked for him to be excused. The judge then asked the man if he could still be impartial and fair, to which, of course, the man said yes. The judge told him he was staying on the jury. The twelve jurors and two alternates were all selected, no one was excused and the rest of us were sent home. It was too early to even grab lunch so I just went back to work.
