Saw an estimate that when you factor in Jimbo's buyout, his staff buyout and the new coach's deal along with his staff, this move by A&M will likely cost a minimum of $150 million.
We are about to find out if money can buy a championship.
I don't care how much money you have, and A&M has gobs, when you drop $150 million or more on a coaching move, the only reasonable return is a national title. Anything less than a title for that kind of payout is abject failure. Which means, A&M is most likely setting themselves up for failure and disappointment. The mindset of fans is "we're spending a lot of money on a coach so we should win." When you chuck $150 million into the coach position, fans believe and expect a title will follow.
