I was store manager at The Pig for quite a few years and worked with the Great Falls Hometown Association. I’m so happy to see this come to fruition! I pray this gives everyone there the boost they need! Praying for you all! David

I've been watching the progress when crossing the bridge. Is there some way I can get some good fishing out of this?

I used to catch nice catfish on the ft lawn side of the dam at the public ramp.
Dave, the "Fort Lawn" side of the dam?? Public ramp?? Not knockin' ya, rather doing such to myself!! But don't you mean the "Great Falls" side of the dam?? Again, my confusion here, not yours!!!

Pass by this on my way to Lake Wateree !
Not knowing where you're coming from when headed to Lake Wateree, which side of the lake are you headed to, Kershaw or Fairfield County??

Just curious. It's been a few years since I've even been on Lake Wateree (been on Lake(s) Marion, Moultrie and Murray, and a little on Lake Norman here in Charlotte during my post 50 years of life!!). Having grown up back in the late 70's and entire 80's on Lake Wateree, no doubt I had some wonderful times there!!!

I may not remember correctly but there was a mill we stopped at on our way north from Columbia before getting into NC.

Take 200 like you’re going to Lancaster from Great Falls. Take a left before you get to the bridge like you’re going to Ft Lawn. On your right about a mile or so is the public ramp I’m referring too. I used to fish there quite a bit at night and catch 10 lbers

Oh Man I Gotcha!! My Bad!! That public ramp is right there where, back in the day, and I do mean Waaayyyy back, like back before I got my driver's license back in 1982, there used to a "fish camp / restaurant" right there at that ramp! My grandparents had a place right on up Hwy 200 as you're headed to Fort Lawn that was about a half a mile from the boat ramp and the restaurant. I was just a little fella when they had it, and they sold it off when I was 5+/- years old!!

But Yes! I gotcha now! The Fort Lawn side of the big dam (not the coffer dam)! My grandfather (my mom's father) used to take me out and All Over the Catawba river area that you're speaking of!

Used to duck hunt on that part of the Catawba as well. That was back in my early teen days with my father and a few others. Funny thing I remember is in the area where we had the duck blinds (it's referred to as "Fishing Creek Lake" (sp?) these days I see!!), right in the middle of the river where you'd be No Closer than a half a mile to either side of the river/lake, man the depth of the river was no more that 4' where we'd setup the duck blind(s)!!

Forgive me for this book of a reply Dave! Didn't intend for it to be this long! In closing, I do know the area you were referencing, and I apologize for the initial confusion on my end!

Hope You and You Family Have a Wonderfully Happy 4th of July Dave!!!
