These generational things are getting stupid.

Anyone notice how these “generations” are getting pinpointed to smaller and smaller time periods? I think it’s just another manufactured way to marginalize and separate people, just like politics.

Plus, it gives goat another stupid way to insult others.

No they aren’t. They’re all about 15 years give or take a year.

Nope! My daughter and I had this same discussion tonight and she looked it up.

Boomers, X’ers, and Millenials are all a 25-year span. The ones since then are 14-year spans. They’re definitely being compressed.

No, I don’t have any conspiracy theory explanations. I think they’re all just stupid labels.

I still refer to myself as Gen X even though I missed the cutoff by less than two months. It's just how I identify myself. Huh.. maybe those damn trannies have a point?
I’m barely a millennial born in 81. I’m not really Gen X either. I’m a millennial that didn’t grow up with cell phones and internet.

Gap Generation or Oregon Trail Generation. Right there with you.

The Xennials (The Oregon Trail Generation)

The micro-generation born between the years 1977 – 1983 has been labelled The Oregon Trail Generation, named after the seminal video game. Other names include The Xennials, The Carter Babies, Generation Y, and Generation Catalano. We grew up with one foot in the analogue world and the other in the digital.

I’ve seen the 1978-1984 period referred to as “Xennials”.
I liked the Oregon Trail Generation term... It's a unique cohort. I'm at the very tail end of X and kind of agree in this group being its own cohort. We are told old for the Lion King and too young for the Breakfast Club.

The biggest thing that makes any generation unique is how we communicate and consume information. Our little group from kindergarten to high school used dimes then quarters in pay phones, then calling cards, pagers, and finally cell phones. A gen X er born in 73' never likely touched a cell phone until their 20's and a millennial born in 89' likely never used a payphone or calling card.

  • We learned to type in grade school on typewriters or word processors and were in fully decked out computer labs by high school.
  • We made mixed tapes, traded CD's, and burned our own MP3's all in middle school and high school.
  • We called party lines and joined chat rooms as teenagers.
  • We bought music from Columbia House and stole it on Napster in high school.
  • We chewed through Atari 2600, Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 and PlayStation gaming systems from 1st through 12th grades.
  • We are equal parts Goonies and The Sandlot.
  • We had Star Wars bed sheets in preschool and college for different reasons.
And most importantly, we all know the very real dangers of dysentery.

My wife is a few years younger than me and thinks I'm an idiot for even considering this, but if I ever get a tattoo, it's going to be the Oregon Trail ox and wagon or a Goonies never say die one on my right forearm.

Then when someone born from 77-83 shakes my hand, they would know I am a brother for life.

I was born Dec of 1964. I was told I could choose between Gen X and Baby Boomer.

Just simplify it to the Konami Code. You'll save money on time and ink.

Who wins a fist fight... Keanu Reeves or Charles Bronson in their primes. Your answer to that question will be all you need to know on which generation is yours.
As characters in movies Reeves as themselves in real life Bronson would knock his *** out and eat his boogers.
