Kitchen and drains slowly.
Pasta in the garbage disposal? If so, call a plumber. I have two plumbers in the family and both, independently and without prompting, said that pasta was by far the number one culprit for clogging kitchen drains.

sounds like you just need the snake. call roto rooter
RotoRooter tends to be more expensive than most local plumbers. Around here RotoRooter charges $300+ to clear a kitchen sink, local plumber $150.

There are no foolproof products short of sulfuric acid. That's an absolute no-no if you have a garbage disposal or an old house with galvanized steel drain pipes. Even if you pass go, do not recommend unless you know what you're doing, which, if you have to ask, you don't.

most roto rooter guys are independent, you can negotiate their fees , ask them how much to open it without a warranty , and your probably down to $75.

at least thats been my experience , and if you call a local plumber make sure you tell them to put their snake on the truck.

25 feet from the kitchen sink won't make it out of your house and you usually need to reach the septic tank or the sewer line depending on your system. Might work depending on what is clogging it and where it's located.

I was gonna suggest something that leads to this. Had an issue at my moms place about a year ago. I tried everything to include a rented snake from Home Depot. They finally had enough and called a plumber who told them it was years of buildup about 19-20 ft down the line and they ended up getting new PVC piping and bypassing the old cast iron pipe. Ever since, if I have a blockage, what I do is first time I run the water in the morning is see how long it takes to back up. If it’s a few seconds it’s close and might be a pea trap issue or just a bit further. But if it takes almost a minute of water running to back up it’s much further down the line and I’d rather pass that to a plumber than waste $$ on drain-o or snake rentals.

If you're using the term "RotoRooter" generically, yes. Franchisees have a monopoly over a given territory and there ain't many of them.

I had th
Kitchen and drains slowly.
I had exact same problem due to a build up of grease when I cleaned off residual oil on pans that were used mostly for cooking steak.

I used Liquid Plumber Urgent Gel.

it's simple snd straight forward -but it does have an exothermic reaction -so it will make the standing water warm while it works. When it breaks through whatever is trapped you will hear a "whoosh" sound.

Then make sure to run water to flush it all through.

I usually pour boiling water down the drain. If that doesn’t work, I use a snake (unless there is garbage disposal) If that doesn’t work, I use Liquid Plumbr. If that doesn’t work I call the plumber.

Hopefully you don't have tree roots invading older cast iron drain lines.

The last time I had a drain problem it was because Verizon’s contractors bored a fiber optic cable through my sewer line.

I’m sure it was all just a misunderstanding.

They use high pressure water when they bore underground cables. They also went through the sewer line for a neighboring house. In their case they blasted poo water out all the drains of their house. Verizon ended up buying the house and it was stripped down to the studs and rebuilt.

I mean, really, WTAF? There’s that actual level of incompetence?
The Verizon contractors must have had some extremely high pressure water, or it was already a pipe that was compromised.

A little surprised on the high pressure water technique - when our contractors do lines for cables or even for other utility work, they use a high pressure air system- sending air through a small nozzle, which creates the force to move soil - then they use a larger diamer pipe connected to, what is essentially a vaccum. It removes all the soil so the cable or utility can be pushed through. It's called a Vactor unit, and they work pretty well - they are especialy useful in areas where tree roots exist, and the owner does not want to remove /damage the trees.

With the high pressure water technique, it creates a lot of mud that has to be moved in order to get the utility line/cable through.

Oh, yeah. Had something similarly inexplicable, though, in the end, non-destructive happen years ago. Some of these a$$holes simply cant be bothered to think, that's assuming that they are capable of such in the first place.
