Taking over as head coach at Battle Ground Academy in Tennessee. Had been an analyst at Central Florida.

Yeah, hopefully works well for him.

I believe he really wanted a shot at OC here at one point in time.

And certainly he would have had to have been better than Roper and Satt! No way to know, but I would love to know what might have been.

I was never huge on him as OC, but I don't think he could have been worse than those 2.

We we're at Byrnes during the same time period. He graduated with my sister. There are two people from Byrnes that folks don't care for anymore: Bobby Bentley and Marcus Lattimore.

I could care less about either but that seems to be the sentiment.

Bentley was 2 years ahead of me at Byrnes....what did Lattimore do to be turned against????....I must be out of the loop since I moved to TR

It’s been a while, so I do not remember all the details, but at some point, he stated some social and political opinions that would probably put him out of step with much of the constituency in the upstate. Some people I know in that area felt that he had to some extent become radicalized.

Led the charge to try to change the name of the high school FROM "James F. Byrnes"...huge mistake on his part, it was something like 98% against, 2% for...He lost all his support and has from my understanding not been asked back. He left SC and went to Oregon is my understanding.

James F. Byrnes High School is probably the most recognized in the state and even the south. Why would someone even remotely try to do something like that?

didnt know this so yea I can understand him being exiled....I do remember the protest over the mascot and they did change it after enough people cried about it....that was like '90 or '91...the Klan even came one day to show support for the old mascot...wild times in Duncan
