If you find something you like, enjoy it. There is a reason there are so many different bourbons out there. I tend to move around trying different ones. My go-tos are Weller, Maker’s & Knob Creek.

I’m admittedly not a bourbon connoisseur but I’ll take white label George Dickle over just about anything else. It’s a whiskey you rarely see mentioned but if i were buying a bottle tonight that’s what it would be. Yes I know it’s technically not a bourbon.

I've tried to tell people Bulliet is underrated. For the money it is solid. I like the 12 year old Knob Creek better than the 9. Michters is an obvious.
For me, it depends on how I'm drinking as to what I go to. But this **** isn't the real stuff for me, it's just a pour.

My review for bourbon. First sip was okay but by the 20th work wasn’t so bad, the world was better, and it made me better at pool/darts/bowling. My only issue is after 50th sip I suck at PS5 and cannot remember any of the story I progressed through the next day.

These types of lists are great for those who are starting to explore the space. I agree with mood and event. Bourbon is like wine in that sense — much to explore and sample

There's no accounting for taste, but I have to question the palates of any bourbon drinkers who dismiss Wild Turkey, one of the world's great whiskeys, as flippantly as this tasting did.

Also, I didn't note anywhere that the judging was blind. If it wasn't, that's a pretty serious red flag.

I do agree that Knob Creek 9 year is almost always excellent.

Eta just saw the very obvious indication that it was blind. You'd think I was drinking or something...

What are the bourbon drinkers opinion of this review?

Bourbon Review
Whatever you like is best. I’d drink every one they mentioned. Michters Bourbon is not my favorite but their rye is great. For a cheap bourbon that can compete with the best try Very Old Barton’s or Ancient Age. My go to mid priced and favorite every day bourbon is Russel’s Reserve 10 year.

however, there is not much that compares to MacAllan 12 Sherry Cask or Balvenie 21 year old port barrel aged scotch.

This.

Find a general flavor profile you like and a heat that works how you drink it (neat, on the rocks, water, mix) it. All the reviewed bourbons are fine.

I fine myself drinking Prohibition 1920, Eagle Rare or Elijah Craig neat or WT Rare Breed on ice as my normal sipping bourbon.

I am not normally a scotch drinker, but Glenallachie 12 and 15 convinced me there are a few good ones out there.

Evans Williams 1783 - small batch has been my go to bourbon for awhile.

it’s not your cheapest bourbon but not expensive. I find it just as good as many bourbons that cost much more. Reminds me of Makers Mark but less expensive.

Don’t over complicate it. Have a “call” bottle and several sippin bottles. Your call bottle is cheap enough that if you want to relive tailgating days and throw some soda in there you’re not being sac-religious.

My call- Most often Gentlemen Jack but occasionally Old Charter for nostalgia & even less often EW 1892. This is for cocktails or casual drinks on weekend.

Sippin bottles: right now I have Woodford, barrel select Ezra Brooks, Blanton’s, Wellers, Longbranch, & Crown XR. Not bourbon but I also keep a cognac (currently Henny), a scotch or 2 (Naked Grouse & some Jap bottle), & a tequila (El Mayor Anejo).

That’s a full stocked bar spirit wise for my taste.

Don’t chase allocated bottles unless it’s about the hunt for you. I just don’t care enough to exert energy to that game. Cheers.

Age and health concerns have greatly reduced my alcohol consumption in recent years but every time I get to Wyoming I pick up a bottle of Big Horn Bourbon. It is made in Montana and is my favorite by a mile. I have never seen it around here. Also I really like Old Elk. It is excellent too. Don’t waste either one of these by mixing them. Neat or on the rocks makes for a very pleasant drink to sip in front of the fire.

Funny... I've gone between knob, makers, and bulleitt for about 15 years now. I do prefer Knob but it's a little more money.
In a blind test, I'm surprised Elijah Craig didn't win over bulleitt but both are good.
Of course this is w the price/bottle criteria they said. No big surprises, glad my tastes are validated!

IMO, reviewing anything that is a blend (ie small batch) is boring. Single barrels are way more interesting from year to year. Every release is different. I know what Michter's SB is going to taste like year after year. I know what EH Taylor SB is going to taste like. Same with Woodford and Rare Breed.

Get into single barrels, barrel proofs, and limited releases. They are way more interesting.

I also like reading about store picks. Even though I can never access a store pick in Montgomery, I like to hear how they differ from their parent bottle.

I'm a fan of Barrel Proofs

Whiskey reviews are like asking who has the best BBQ. Opinions vary; very subjective.

Of the 3, I’d agree, for the price Knob Creek would be my choice.

My go-to lately for cheap whiskey has been Jim Beam Black.
Friend had some Knob Creek that he didn't like. I tasted it and traded him a Jack Daniels for it. I haven't gone back. Love me some Knob Creek.

I agree with you like what you like and I try to hit up a different distillery whenever in Kentucky. Here’s what I always keep at home. Sipping- Smoke Wagon(any of them are great), Buffalo Trace, IW Harper Cabernet cask aged. Big fan of Bulleit rye and it makes a great old fashioned. I also like to use Pig Whistle for mixed drinks. Cheers!

Dollar for dollar on a bourbon nobody that is a regular bourbon drinker will turn their nose up to, I suggest Wild Turkey Rare Breed. It's Barrel proof at 116.8 and a blend of 6, 8, and 12 year old WT. At under $45 a bottle, it's considerably a step up over everything on the reviews from the OP. @NTDawg mentioned it to me a while back and I hadn't had it in a while. As other premium, but gettable bottles have shot up to $70+ a bottle you ain't beating the value for rare breed on something you can regularly find

Abso 17'n loot lee.

The Bone Appetite reviewers would call it cherry flavored lava and dismiss it.

Old Grandad is great for sipping solo & mixing. Go-to for a lot of bartenders. Trivia point: the bust on the label is Basil Hayden himself.

Chattanooga Whiskey for me. I buy through seelbachs and have it shipped.
Joe T’s in Ridgeland stocks it. Total wine and spirits has it too

The one that I found that I really liked and now it is going up in price is Nelson Bros. The regular is better to me than the reserve. My daily drinker is Larceny.

Im hooked on the K.Luke now. Love their barrel proof and just got one that's a Keenan Cabernet Sauvignon secondary barrel that's crazy good at 117 proof. I'm drinking their batch 9 right now and it's so insanely good! The flavors are just so great and I'm no professional taster.
