No we’re competing vs several things, one of which is people raised by too much mama………Russia should invaded us vs Ukraine.https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...straight-season-to-lowest-average-since-1981/
College football attendance declines for seventh straight season to lowest average since 1981.
Very Interesting quote: "We really are competing against the 70-inch TV and the beer that is cold in your refrigerator and no lines at the restroom," Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby said. "We have to continue to make sure we enhance the game day experience."
Comfortable surroundings and superior amenities will bring people back. We should rip down the East Upper and build 3-story box seats in its place. Protection against heat and rain should be the focus along with very comfy seats and high end service is the key. Otherwise, people will stay home. It’s too expensive for a second rate experience. Old fashioned stadia are over.Playoff sucks. Old bowl system of the 80s would bring folks back.
I'd lay better odds on sensibly priced admission and fewer televised games pitting good programs vs. patently inferior opponents.Playoff sucks. Old bowl system of the 80s would bring folks back.
During the Covid year we went to 2 home games. Sort of enjoyed watching them on TV 75" Samsung. I like the baseball and men's basketball. They don't take all day like football. We still like to go to football. But as I get older, we will just get basketball and baseball tickets.TV's are absolutely amazing nowadays, and the hunting/fishing is really smoking around here. Can't blame a man for realizing doing one thing always brings you pleasure, while the other brings more heartache than joy. And any joy comes with stress before and after with sports. Ha.
If boosters get the idea that NIL is how to hook good players, that's exactly what will happen. The only leverage schools have is tying ticket priority to donations for scholarships.Does sitting at home mean less money for booster clubs since tickets are less popular? Add to it redirection of fan financial support to NIL collective efforts, and we could see some booster clubs suffer up the road.
I think it would be advantageous to remove the aluminum bench seating and add individual seating... Not sure how many people this would eliminate but the game experience would be way better.
When I was young, we were lucky to be on TV once every four years (and no, I did not walk 20km to school uphill each way ).I loved going to home games even though I sat through some atrocious seasons. (90-04) It just got too expensive and the guys I split the costs with dropped out. I think a big difference today compared to my early years is literally every game is on TV. When I was young we were lucky to be on 1 or 2 times a season. I still look forward to catching the occasional home game.
I watched the a 10 minute video summary of the Sat game vs Clemron on Youtube. The camerawork from the ACCN crew at chigger field was fourth rate. Boy are we spoiled. It's not just the size and quality of the TVs... the quality of the televised product has now surpassed the live experience.
Multiple high quality camera angles with instantaneous replays; on demand rules analysts; sideline reporters; background features on players and coaches; and the ability to pause live action, replay and fast forward all combine to make the at-home game-watching experience better than the live one. And for many, it's not even close anymore.
Playoff sucks. Old bowl system of the 80s would bring folks back.
You don't buy football tickets anymore? That's like the end of an era, you have always been such a supporter.During the Covid year we went to 2 home games. Sort of enjoyed watching them on TV 75" Samsung. I like the baseball and men's basketball. They don't take all day like football. We still like to go to football. But as I get older, we will just get basketball and baseball tickets.
Boy, you are a loyal Gamecock fan.Ticket costs, HDTV, traffic, piss poor concessions/customer service, etc have driven many away. I’m going into my 40th year of four seasons tickets. The hassle of driving round trip about 3 1/2 hours, very drunk visitors/our fans, and sitting on Bluff Road are still trumped by the pre-game pageantry (band, GAME-COCKS cheer, 2001), and ‘sandstorm’. I think as we/if we improve the product on the field, some fans will return. At some point my 65 year old self is going to turn over the in-game stuff to my three offspring. They all like to go to WB.
I ***** a lot on these forums, but I love the Gamecocks and my alma mater.Boy, you are a loyal Gamecock fan.
