It’s been about 20 years since I’ve been. How does the Pack feel about this event for a young grade school family?
ETA.. my drive time to Jackson is about 4 hours

I haven’t been in probably 12 years or so, but I can tell you my little boy (6) would love it. My 9 year old girl probably wouldn’t, as I’m sure the roping and wrestling events would worry her. I looked at going this year the day Zach Top is performing, and was very surprised at how expensive it has gotten. It’s been about 20 years since I’ve been. It’s fun. Definitely something to do that I bet your kids will enjoy. I have an 11 year old and 5 year old. Both love going. It’s not cheap though. It’s been about 20 years since I’ve been. How does the Pack feel about this event for a young grade school family?

Could fill out the weekend with a stroll and taking in the sites along n state street, Woodrow Wilson, and University blvd/Terry Rd. What a fun weekend in the capitol cityI don’t know if it’s worth the 4 hour drive unless you make a weekend out of it.

Doesn't the state put on the Dixie national? Not the city. I do get it, though. You said "metro"It’s one of the few things the Jackson Metro does well.
Great family outing. I'd break up the drive by spending the night. It’s been about 20 years since I’ve been. How does the Pack feel about this event for a young grade school family?

We’d definitely stay the night. Lived in Jackson for a short time about 20 years ago, and I’m not sure what’s changed since then. Hotels will be the next thing on the list. I don’t care in particular about which part of the metro so long as it’s SAFE and near decent restaurants.Great family outing. I'd break up the drive by spending the night.
Good places in Madison and RidgelandWe’d definitely stay the night. Lived in Jackson for a short time about 20 years ago, and I’m not sure what’s changed since then. Plenty of hotels right there just northwest of renaissance in Ridgeland with plenty to eat close by. I guess it just depends on which way he’s coming from.Good places in Madison and Ridgeland
There is a Hyatt place on the frontage road in Ridgeland. It’s at the renaissance mall right next to the Cspire headquarters building. That’s probably where I would stay if I were coming with family. From that hotel, you could walk to 5 guys burgers or Panera bread… or more upscale a places koestler prime, caet. 2 great local places that are nice and kid friendly local 463 and aplos also within walking distance of that hotel. If you stay there and like Mediterranean food, I’d highly recommend Aplos. There is also a movie theater and tons of shopping within walking distance. Overall, about the best area the Jackson metro has to offer. We’d definitely stay the night. Lived in Jackson for a short time about 20 years ago, and I’m not sure what’s changed since then. Highly recommend Aplos. Awesome restaurant and it is owned by a bulldog. There is a Hyatt place on the frontage road in Ridgeland. Didn’t know it was owned by a bulldog. Makes me like it even more. It really is a great place. It’s hard to even describe the flavor of the Greek wings but they are awesome.Highly recommend Aplos. Awesome restaurant and it is owned by a bulldog.

Ridgeland/Madison. For Ridgeland get past County Line. Embassy Suites and AC are good. The Sheraton at the Refuge in Flowood is also nice. Has a small lazy river for the kids but I don’t think it’s heated.Hotels will be the next thing on the list.
