The Filmation studio churned out some real crap in the 70's, much of it focused on the extended Archie Comics family of characters.

One of the main reasons the Archie series even existed was because the actors hired to be "The Monkees" started to want creative control over their music and eventually kicked out Don Kirshner, who was their manager/producer. Kirshner created The Archies as a musical group so that he could have complete control over their output, hiring (and firing) session musicians to perform the songs as needed.

Obviously "Sugar, Sugar" was the big hit for The Archies, but I actually kind of prefer this one, "Jingle Jangle" which is a nice slice of early 70's bubblegum pop. The animation on this is truly awful.

The newer ones just don't compare to the older ones:

Tom & Jerry
Roadrunner
Yogi Bear
Huckleberry Hound
Mighty Mouse
Flintstones
Jetsons
Bugs Bunny

Was it called Curious Cat and Minute Mouse? If anybody here grew up getting WPIX (channel 11) from NYC, they might know this one. Used to be on sometimes if a Yankees game ended early.

I think Bob's Burgers is just awful.

Acutally the only cartoons (animated) that I like are Family Guy and still watch The Simpsons every so often. I used to also watch Archer, but it's been a long time (and yes, I know the voice of Archer and Bob from Bob's Burgers is the same guy - he also does a Geico ad).

American Dad is great too and found its footing around S4. Rick and Morty is one of the best sci-fi shows around and very often grounds their sci-fi in reality. Futurama used to do this too and I haven’t watched the new series given how perfect the original ended.

H. Jon Benjamin - voice of Archer, Bob - was first on Comedy Central’s Dr. Katz animated show that had comedians as therapy patients.

They FINALLY released Dexter's Lab on DVD only a few weeks ago. FINALLY

Gendy's new cartoon "Primal" is incredible. Sorry I know this thread is for dumb cartoons, not smart ones.
