Well, we’ve officially entered the dead season. Time for the move, television, music, & food threads to keep us occupied until August. I’m we’ll have a coaching search to make it a bit more interesting but in the meantime, what is your favorite movie from the 80’s?

I like the Top 5 Lists. Mine would probably be:

1) Back to the Future
2) Top Gun
3) Christmas Vacation
4) Funny Farm
5) Die Hard

So many honorable mentions. A Christmas Story, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Goonies, & Major League.

At the time, as a kid of the 1980s, my list would have included:

E.T.
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Back to the Future
The Karate Kid
Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Today, I would add to that list:

Rain Main
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles,
The Shining
Field of Dreams
Airplane!
Die Hard

Unpopular opinion: Never liked Field of Dreams- Guy puts his families welfare in jeopardy to build a baseball field in the middle of nowhere for ghosts to play baseball-never understood it.

He gets to hang out with his dead dad after never saying goodbye to him, which he talks about often on the trips he makes. You should watch it again. I choke up every time at the end.

Rocky IV was entertaining, no doubt. But it’s montage after montage then the final fight which includes a 6th montage. Kind of crazy they came up with that script!

Good list. Stand by Me is a classic!

Wow so many to choose from, I graduated HS in 1983 and firmly believe the 80's were the best for movies and music.

My top 5ish:
1. The Goonies
2. Empire Strikes Back
3. Return of the Jedi
4. Back to the Future
5. Die Hard (Yes, it's a Christmas movie)
.... Top Gun, The Breakfast Club, Blade Runner are all in the running.....

Not to mention he climbs to the top of one of the Tetons in the middle of winter just wearing a leather bomber jacket! 🤣 If he wouldn't have died of hypothermia on the way up, he certainly would have on the way down.
