OT: Fixed my ESPN streaming issues and doubled my internet speed

I know that sounds like a phishing sidebar ad from 2009, but it's true.

So if you are on Xfinity, Spectrum, Cox, Cablevision, and some others IPS, they are updating their internet protocol to DOCSIS 3.0 from 2.0. I got an email from Xfinity about it a couple months ago. Basically said in February my old modem (that I own, not renting) would be obsolete. I've had the same Motorola Surfboard modem for 10 years.

I went to Target and got a DOCSIS 3.1 compliant modem (another Motorola) and I'll be damned. My internet doubled in speed and all my streams work flawlessly now. I pay for the mid tier internet. Typically I get around 250 mbs. Now I'm getting 600 mbs.

Unfortunately, the new modems aren't cheap. I think I paid $170 for it. You have to register your MAC address through the Xfinity app which was frustrating to say the least. But now it's rippin' and a tearin'.
