I guess this a good thing.

However, I am much more worried that the US can no longer build enough artillery shells to supply the Ukraine and Israel as well as our own needs. I wonder if that's on Wicker's radar. I do not have a lot of confidence that it is.

They should rename it to simply "Vicksburg National Park" since labels like that don't mean anything to the NPS anymore.

(I'm referencing the Arch in St. Louis.)

Bill introduced by Wicker to expand the boundaries. It is several months old.

Vicksburg Military Park is receiving up grade.

I am fairly sure the two go together. Maybe you Vicksburg Dogs know for sure and even more.
More space for Vicksburg after the government just fired 7 Rangers there. More land and fewer people to watch over it.

I would assume they do. They are planning to build a new welcome center/interpretative center right off the highway. They(not sure if feds or state-maybe that's the land they are transferrring?) bought 2 hotels and the land inbetween them in order to relocate the welcome center for the park. I think MDAH is the lead, so I would guess they bought the land with federal money and now have transferred it to the state for its use.

That sounded high for a number of rangers being fired. So I did a check. Your number employeewise was basically right. It's actually 8 employees with one taking the early retirement.

It doesn't sound like any of them are rangers. Mostly short term employees (probationary) and a special projects person. Here is the info if interested...
