I had a really crappy roommate once who had to have Star Trek the next generation on when he went to sleep. He sucked.

I used to listen to music but not anymore.

my better half hates that I need tv or something on to sleep but its been that way since I was a young lad. Anyone else need "noise" to fall asleep to

CBS Reports (1964): "D-Day Plus 20 Years - Eisenhower Returns to Normandy" - YouTube
My wife passed some time ago and of course our boys are now men and have moved away. In any event I'm alone. I tend to turn Youtube on my computer and listen to a book or lecture or something of that nature. I'm somewhat of a WW2 or Kenneday assassination buff, so something like that. Perhaps it makes me feel less alone.

Your thoughts are mine. G-d bless. You're not alone.

Shalom

PS: This D-Day plus 20 special is great to listen to.

As a freshman at Penn State, my roommate would come in after I had already gone to sleep and then turn the TV on louder than it would be during the day. He woke me up every single time. What made it worse is I was the one who brought the TV into the dorm. Let’s just say that after a month of this happening, he knew better to do it anymore.

My freshman roommate went to live in a frat house so he just put a jar of vasoline on his bunk so no one would touch it and dipped. Everyone was happy because this guy was a fancy pants pretty boy and I'm me.

I used to be that way. At one point I made a concerted effort to break that habit. Took the TV out of my room and sucked it up for 2-3 weeks. Now I lay down and I’m usually asleep in 5 or so minutes. Wife always comments about how I crash when I go to bed. I tell her no, I just trained my body that bed is for sleep (most of the time) so my body knows when we lay down, it’s shut down time. Made a YUUUUGE positive change on my well being.

I'm in the same situation. I can't just come home and go right to bed. I need to sit and relax in front of a tv in order to calm my brain down. Tune in and turn off.

Yeah i agree. I need to calm my brain down before bed but I don’t do it in bed. I’ll sit on the couch and watch something or study for my SANS courses but never ever in bed. For me if I have stimulus in bed eventually my body will learn that bed=stimulus and it’ll be harder to go to sleep

Thanks, but I was never a fan. I'm an old history teacher, so WW2 or the like is fascinating.
Marshall, I am a huge WW2 buff....dont re-enact or anything lol--own original M1 Garand--first weapon my wife allow me in the house-then it started--thats another discussion..my grandfather was in 7th Army as a combat medic (Aug 44' thru late 45' ) he gave me an officers Luger that surrendered to him with 40 men and I have a 1977 Franklin Mint real firing Patton Pistol w/Ivory Handles same shipping box the lot $$...anyhow fascinating war and the greatest generation...we can talk about that all u want--been to Normandy region all over and other places Dachau etc...on to sleeping...

Sleep watching movies, Binge watching Series or browsing YouTube stuff--same documentaries; WW2, Mafia, JFK etc....go to bed late. Wife is 10PM then up to run in AM at 6AM like clock work--wish i could do that...

Marshall and everyone else that read this Post-- do this please!!! JFK Untold American Stories OMG...amazing! These guys are incredible--its a podcast series of ALL the Characters that were connected or related to JFK. One of the podcasters Mark Groubert reads like 50 books and.or interviews authors about each character; LBJ, Dulles, Walker, Mack Wallace, etc etc etc...I watched them all on each JFK character over the holidays at night before sleeping. Mark Groubert can tell a story--best connect the dots Factual info--this is not theory stuff...you come to your own conclusion. "You cant make this stuff up" lol......hint hint...

Here is the LBJ Part 1 link What a scum bag---never liked him anyway when I learned he beat dog to death and then blew up a mule with dynamite as a kid...

Believe it or not I've listened to these guys. Mack Wallace's fingerprints were on a box in the TBDB. Crazy. When we played in the Cotton Bowl I went to Dealey Plaza. Could not believe how tiny it is. Perfect spot for ambush.
LBJ was a crook.

My Dad was 28th infantry division 112 regiment company K. Survived the Battle of the Bulge. He didn't talk about it much.
But I had an uncle who was a 19 year old engineer, who lost a leg on the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen. When they got together I would eavesdrop on their conversations....between them they had no reason to hold back.

I used to fall asleep to Reservoir Dogs every night when I first got to State College and did not have cable in my bedroom.
