It's pouring rain in Malvern, PA, so today I stayed home today. Because I moved around a year and half ago, I decided I would go into the storage room, explore, maybe get rid of some sh-t. I'm all about simplicity -- hence, less clutter) Low and behold, I approach a container not labeled. One less thing. Until I opened it and OMG!! Brimming with unopened packs of baseball cards from 1982 to 1994. My mom saved all of those when I moved out in 1996. Never lived home since then. G-d bless my Mom for not tossing this container. The cards were all Brands, primarily Topps and Fleer, but a lot of Bowman , Topps Op-chee, Donruss, and some Upper Deck a few other esoteric brands, and some traded series.

Long Story short.

Two Ken Griffey Junior rookie cards. Boggs Rookie cards-Tops, 2 Mantingly Donruss, Rookie Griffey Jr. Diamond King,. Jim Thome rookie. Jim Edmonds Rookie cards. 2wo Bo Jackson Rookies and other Rare Bo Jackson cards. 1988 error Cal Ripken card, 89 error Mark McGuire. 94 USA McGwire, Rare Jose Canseco Cards. a Cal Ripken All star card with error from 1988, the best Glavine, Avery ,and Smoltz rookie cards (I need to buy a Greg Maddox in addition to the aforementioned. to complete that pitching staff personal set). all are in insane condition. Corners you could pierce an ear. Color insane. Some edges aren't symmetrical but damn near the condition should be mint and or gem mint. Tony Gwy, Two Randy Johnson Rookies. So pumped, Funny enough I told the boys when they came home (ages 13and 14); "You won't - "profanity" used believe what I found today. I show them the cards. Their glance was priceless as they said:

"Cool will look at them later.." --No interest. How funny. They still don't know. I'm just very Happy right now.

Today is a day I will remember. We still have two unopend boxes of Fleer and Donruss to open. I'm going leave them alone.

Anyone recommend how to properly get these graded and valued.

Shalom

LOL. Awesome. My brother just told me a Ricky Henderson Topps rookie card (which I had at one point) went for $30,000 on some pawn show. Congrats and good luck!

You grew up in Malvern? Did you go to Great Valley HS? When did you graduate HS?

I’d think any sports memorabilia shop would be able to help.

That had to be like Christmas morning….. congrats!

Put a couple of Boggs cards on the spoke of your kids bikes. That might make them interested.

I still have tons of cards. I don't really know if they're worth much or if they've gone the way of Beanie Babies but I still have no plans to part with them. I pretty much have every Topps set dating back to the mid 80s.

They're fun to rip, but probably the biggest market is for unopened wax packs and boxes. People pay a premium for a potential psa 10. There's a great Facebook group "vintage wax and packs" where you can get a lot of info and buy and sell. As far as grading, psa charges $100 and if you don't get a 10 (which is very difficult) it isn't worth it for that era of cards.
