I'm just about to crack my Stagg 131 proof I got in the PLCB auction.I do own the bottle of GFB I posted above, but I also won the PA lottery and was able to recently acquire this. I believe it’s distilled by the Buffalo Trace distillery. It’s barrel proof - 130 and aged about 10 years.

Bourbon is whiskey. Just a specific branch of whiskey. I am not much of a whiskey drinker but will say that I love Irish whiskey more than any of the others. Smoother to me than the rest.Is there really a discernible difference between bourbon and whiskey?
By definition, bourbon must be distilled with at least 51% cornbut don’t all properly distilled and aged grain-based liquors taste about the same?

According to Booker Moore, former Master Distiller @ Jim Beam & direct descendent, after 9 years bourbon doesn't get any smoother like Scotch. Not a bourbon drinker myself, and I know this tale is about whiskey, but I’m fascinated by this article. I mean, can you imagine how smooth a 170-year aged bottle might be?![]()
American Whiskey Salvaged From 170-Year-Old Shipwreck Could Be Worth Millions
When The Westmoreland sank in the waters of Lake Michigan on December 7th, 1854, it carried with it 280 barrels of bourbon. Soon we might finally get a taste of the lost liquid.www.forbes.com

I think you mean Booker Noe. And whsky, bourbon or whatever variety, doesn't age, in the sense of improving, in the bottle. It can hold the same character for quite a while from the time it's bottled, but ultimately it will just die.According to Booker Moore, former Master Distiller @ Jim Beam & direct descendent, after 9 years bourbon doesn't get any smoother like Scotch.
Absolutely, just like all steaks taste the same, all bread taste the same, all beer tastes the same, etc.Is there really a discernible difference between bourbon and whiskey?

I don't drink much but my favorite Bourbon is 101.
Good to know. Again, I’m not typically a bourbon/whiskey consumer, so thanks for sharing. I’m still curious about how smooth 170 year old hooch might be.According to Booker Moore, former Master Distiller @ Jim Beam & direct descendent, after 9 years bourbon doesn't get any smoother like Scotch.
As smooth and tasty as water, if you're lucky.Good to know. Again, I’m not typically a bourbon/whiskey consumer, so thanks for sharing. I’m still curious about how smooth 170 year old hooch might be.
