As someone who actually did grow up ski racing as my main sport until a knee injury ended that career, I have some questions about this decision.

Lindsey Vonn is making a comeback at 40 years of age. Good luck with that. She skied a race at Copper Mtn. She also was a Forerunner at the Birds of Prey race.
She skis next week at St. Moritz.

Personally I don't think she has a prayer. Nobody beats father time. Her brain may say one thing but her body will say another. At least she's skiing downhill and super g so quickness is less of a factor.

Good luck to her, but they better have a room reserved for her at Steadman clinic.
