Draft choice Surprising as I thought the Colts had a fiduciary duty to their fans to tank this season
Yeah, nobody said that...literally. The discussion was whether the Colts should sit Wentz IF they were eliminated from the playoffs.Draft choice Surprising as I thought the Colts had a fiduciary duty to their fans to tank this season
The perfect scenario for the Eagles is exactly the one that unfolded --- the Colts would be good enough to be in the playoff hunt so that they had to stick with Wentz, but not so good that the 1st round pick wouldn't still fall in the probable low-to-mid-20's range. Now we can root against the Colts in their last three games (they are likely to end up at 10 - 7, with Arizona away followed by two cupcakes).Draft choice Surprising as I thought the Colts had a fiduciary duty to their fans to tank this season
Okay, good plug. You’ll see your five bucks on your phone by COB tomorrow.I agree w lion jim
Instead of stocking up on several needs, I’m afraid Howie will trade them for something less than what the team could do with them. The Eagles picks are rapidly falling. Miami and Indy will both be in the 20s somewhere. The Eagles pick will be in the mid teens at best. Hardly exciting given what Howie has picked in those ranges.
If they get a real impact player out of it (esp. at DE or S or CB), then it’s not an awful scenario to trade 1-2 of those picks.Instead of stocking up on several needs, I’m afraid Howie will trade them for something less than what the team could do with them.

Howie’s draft record stinks to put it kindly. He has no idea what he’s doing in the war room.
That wouldn’t be enough. Packaging all 3 wouldn’t get them to #1 overall. That kind of underpins the disappointing aspect of having three so-so first rounders.Hypothetically speaking, would you package the lower 2 of the three to move up to potentially 1 to get Hutchinson?
Edit: latest sporting news mock has the eagles taking demarvin leal (DT) and karlaftis/ojabo (DEs). I’d also like to see a LB or S with one of them. I don’t know if I’d trade up. Plenty of D value between 10-25
In some ways I’ll feel good. Feel good for Frank, feel like they stuck it in the Eagles ear because they messed up Wentz ( not having Reich had nothing to do with that imo) feel good for the big OG they let walk who is starting for them ( name escapes me)Tank the season - Ha!
How will you all feel when the Colts win the Super Bowl !!
The OP was using sarcasm to insinuate that people suggested that the Colts tank the season to save their #1 pick. This is simply not true at all.Tank the season - Ha!

I’m coming away from this season feeling that Indy may still have a QB problem. Wentz is a lot more Jimmy G than 2017 Carson. The OP was using sarcasm to insinuate that people suggested that the Colts tank the season to save their #1 pick. This is simply not true at all.
Good luck to the Colts. If they win the SB, it will be due to a great running game and solid defense - not stellar QB play.
I wonder what his QBR rating is over the last say 8 games.I’m coming away from this season feeling that Indy may still have a QB problem. Wentz is a lot more Jimmy G than 2017 Carson.
He’s 6th in the NFL in total QBR, but in breaking that down, he’s 11th in the passing component (just ahead of Jimmy G) and 10th in the running component. In short, he’s being Carson…not spectacular in either area, but a nice combination moves him up the total QBR rankings.
As long as Indy needs a game manager to complement a dominant running game, Wentz can help them win. The moment they need to rely on him to move the offense and score, they’re in trouble.
For a 20-something first rounder, Indy probably feels they did ok. Wentz is serviceable in that system. Maybe he’ll get better. Even if he gives them top-15 play for his contract, that’s may be worth it to a team looking to win now.
It’s certainly not a home run for Indy.
Yep, pretty much agree. I think both teams did fairly well with the trade. If you told me last year that the Eagles would get a 1st rounder for Wentz, I would have been a bit surprised.I’m coming away from this season feeling that Indy may still have a QB problem. Agree, not a home run - as a Colts fan (and husband of rabid Eagle’s fan), it’s a good conversation to have - but I really haven’t been happy with Wentz overall.I’m coming away from this season feeling that Indy may still have a QB problem. Wentz is a lot more Jimmy G than 2017 Carson.
