OT - Mark Ruffalo is a terrible actor.

Watching Netflix series "All the Light We cannot See". He's playing the part of an Englishman, and his accent is so terrible it makes the show damn near unwatchable. Unbelievable an actor could be this awful, yet still get the part.

Truly, I'm having to bite my tongue as we (wife & I) watch to keep from laughing during this drama. She read the book and is a huge fan.

Actually, he was playing a Frenchman, at least in the miniseries.

He was pretty good in 13 going on 30, not that I've ever seen it.

Did he have dual citizenship??? I believe he was French. Maybe they spoke english so we uneducated Americans could understand the script. **

That's even worse then! He sounds like an amateur trying to imitate an English accent, but doing a really bad job. Nothing in his accent sounds remotely French. The other main actors also speak with English accents, but do so very well. Perhaps they are actually English.

But Ruffalo is hacking it so badly it's funny. Sounds like 80% of his words are spoken with an American accent, with the balance a poor attempt at an English one.

I guess you’ve never seen Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, or anything Sean Connery has done where he is supposed to do a non Scottish accent? Or anyone other than a southerner or British person doing a southern accent. Hanks won an Oscar butchering a southern accent.

Haha exactly. He’s a Russian submarine captain in Hunt for Red October and he’s like nah fck it. I’ll just do Scottish.

Untouchables too. Why couldn’t he just be a Scottish Chicago cop? It wouldn’t take away anything. Nope, he’s Irish. Connery says maybe two lines in a half *** Irish accent, then says, 17 it. You gotta love that man.

Is it as "good" as Kevin Costner's in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves?

And all these years Sir Patrick Stewart has gotten away with using his English accent for a French captain.

(I know it's the future when the French language has evolved to use an English accent)

He’s just another one of those actors who think I give a damn what they think about politics. I used to like some of his roles , but he’s grown tiresome since he runs his mouth all the time.
I have zero idea what Mark Ruffalo's politics are. He was pretty good in that movie about the reporters breaking open the Catholic abuse case in Boston. I can personally assure you, it's super easy to avoid learning about B list celebrities politics if you actually don't "give a damn".

Have you all noticed that a lot of actors on Netflix look like famous actors. Sometimes I have to do a double take.

Based on your comment, I'm guessing he holds some liberal/progressive views?

I have no actual idea since I have never read about his politics or even heard him talk about them.
Am I somehow avoiding all his talking or are you somehow seeking it out(either directly, or due to watching a talking head complain about him)?

It isn't tough to not know what some random celebrity thinks about random social issues.
Also, why do you value his voice any less than random posters you agree with on a message board?

Cool gif, but it's true. I just googled the guy and found out he has spoken extensively in support of the 9/11 conspiracy that the towers couldn't have fallen like they did without it being an inside job.
And I read something about he thinks gmo is responsible for birth deformations that occurred due to Zika.

Oh, and he apparently testified in front of congress a few years ago based on the info he learned due to playing a character in a movie?

Yeah, didn't know any of this until now.
I have enjoyed Hulk calling Thor a puny God up to now. Pretty sure I will forget about Ruffalo's views very shortly and laugh the next time I see Hulk throwing a tantrum.

You must have missed She Hulk. They took his great character and destroyed it

Just because you asked I will tell you that it would not matter if he was a Trump supporter, I only care about his film career but he takes every opportunity to voice his opinion. There are some musicians that fall in the same category

I like artists but I don't care for their opinions regardless of whether they are left or right. They usually come off as smug, know it alls, who are better than me. I really like being told what a horrible person I am because I don't do enough for climate control, then take their private jet back home to their multi million dollar mansion.

Sorry, I just have a hard time believing you don’t know when you go full Tolstoy in every thread that’s at the least politically adjacent.

Lib 3 to the rescue here.
I have a playlist with Toby Keith and Rage on it. I disagree with both of their politics.
Chris Pratt is probably my favorite actor in the MCU and he belonged to a crazy church.
I miss Big and Rich Coming to Your City for Gameday and Are you ready for some football on MNF.
Chik Fila Chickn Minis are fantastic.
Publix typically has great cuts of meat.
I use Goya beans for my burritos.
I liked My Pillow for a while but that has changed. Not because of politics, but my sleep habits have changed.
I liked Dan Mullen as a Coach despite him believing that Thetans from a volcano makes Tom Cruise a god of some sort.
I like Robbie on T&L even though he denies the moon landing.
I believe in the soul, the cock, the *****, the small of a woman’s back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.
