University of Memphis expects enrollment numbers to be down 25% for freshman. That’s a large number, schools are about to be hurting bad. Article is pay.

So since it's a pay site you want to maybe elaborate on it or should we just guess details?

Sounds like a Memphis problem to me, every college there is down. Nobody wants to live there.

College enrollment dropped nationwide during the pandemic and never recovered. It had been trending lower as early as 2010. When the cost of a tuition drops enrollment will go back up. There's about a million fewer students enrolled across the country compared to 2019.

The FAFSA delay hasn’t helped any at all as well.

The increase in kids choosing trade schools instead of universities play a part in lower university enrollments.

Kids see a path to immediate employment after graduating a trade school.

I want to see the stats for Tennessee.

Community College enrollment nationally has been down since Covid and there’s the Enrollment Cliff.

But Tennessee has their Colleges of Applied Technology which do a lot of training there and more importantly their Reconnect program which provides for free schooling at the community and technical colleges for folks with no degrees.
