Got an Apple TV gizmo earlier this week and it stomps a mudhole in the functioning speed of anything else I've tried.
I've had Amazon Fire TV Sticks and the Roku things on TVs for a while. One of the Fire TV Sticks died last week and I replaced it with an AppleTV thing. Granted the Amazon and Roku products I have are a bit old, but the functionality and quickness of use of the Apple product blows them completely away.
Maybe the current models of Amazon and Roku devices are just as quick, but the Apple gizmo runs circles around what my previous experiences with the former two have been.
With the Apple product, I do have to recharge the remote instead of replacing batteries. Remains to be seen how well that works.
