We still have Directv because regular tv is still the fastest for just flipping through channels and finding stuff you might not have planned on watching, recording, etc. We find that with streaming you pretty much need to know what you want ahead of time. We just upgraded a few tvs to LG Smart tvs this last year as they were dirt cheap and I must say the built in streaming menu is much nicer than the streaming sticks, especially since you just need one remote. Also, its extremely easy to cast to the tv from a phone or tablet for the occasional oddball shows or other stuff. Samsung tvs have a similar interface. We used to use Roku and Amazon Firestick devices. I personally prefer the Roku, but the only one we use is the Amazon Firestick still hooked up to the projector. The Firestick is nice, but it tends to have a ton of ads for Amazon. I'd avoid Android based streaming sticks (including Chromecast) because sometimes they cannot get or are slow to get apps like Amazon or Netflix or HBOMax etc - no issues with Roku or Amazon devices. Of course, always verify ahead of time what Apps a device will support so that you don't get a nasty surprise. As far as streaming services we have Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOMax, and Paramount plus. If you don't have any currently take the free test drives to see if they have content you like - so much content is just filler IMHO, and it just makes things harder to find. The actual good content tends to be surprisingly sparse or just buried, and once you watch what you wanted you may not find it worth it to keep.
