1. What streaming service do you use and are you happy with it?

2. Where do you get the best streaming service as compared to cost?

3. If you don't have the latest smart TV, what streaming device do you recommend?

The questions presuppose the service provides TV and live sports

Ah, not sure I have any with Live TV (Prime I guess). I still have cable. All other stuff aside I like HBO Max and Netflix; HBO for the premium TV shows (House of the Dragon, Last of Us, Succession) and all the Warner Brothers content. Netflix is great for original programming/movies and have a ton of international things I like. Prime is fine but I find it only has a few original shows I like (The Boys) and nearly everything else seems to be for purchase or rent.

Probably not helpful.

We have an Amazon Firestick on each tv. We have Hulu with live TV and the sports package add on. We also have Netflix. We would never go back to cable. Just make sure you have good internet.

In regards to #3, I use a roku, and have no complaints.
The proliferation of streaming services is frustrating as its often just a few particular shows people want rather than an entire network for streaming.
Amazon may allow the best versatility in selecting particular shows or series. For streaming services I've been pleased with YouTube TV, though Sling and Hulu are also options.

We still have Directv because regular tv is still the fastest for just flipping through channels and finding stuff you might not have planned on watching, recording, etc. We find that with streaming you pretty much need to know what you want ahead of time. We just upgraded a few tvs to LG Smart tvs this last year as they were dirt cheap and I must say the built in streaming menu is much nicer than the streaming sticks, especially since you just need one remote. Also, its extremely easy to cast to the tv from a phone or tablet for the occasional oddball shows or other stuff. Samsung tvs have a similar interface. We used to use Roku and Amazon Firestick devices. I personally prefer the Roku, but the only one we use is the Amazon Firestick still hooked up to the projector. The Firestick is nice, but it tends to have a ton of ads for Amazon. I'd avoid Android based streaming sticks (including Chromecast) because sometimes they cannot get or are slow to get apps like Amazon or Netflix or HBOMax etc - no issues with Roku or Amazon devices. Of course, always verify ahead of time what Apps a device will support so that you don't get a nasty surprise. As far as streaming services we have Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBOMax, and Paramount plus. If you don't have any currently take the free test drives to see if they have content you like - so much content is just filler IMHO, and it just makes things harder to find. The actual good content tends to be surprisingly sparse or just buried, and once you watch what you wanted you may not find it worth it to keep.

Hvae heard very positive things on roku , amazon , hulu and other fire sticks and streaming services .

Anyone still using cable with all due respect are overpaying or you like wasting their money .

For pure value and content visit your local best buy or other video store near you and get the best info from them .

Unlike my friend @91Joe95 I’m a fan of brevity and paragraphs😎

1. youtubeTv. We’ve been happy customers for three (3) years and have all of the sports and worth-watching other channels you’ll ever need.

2. Amazon Fire Stick

3. never ever activate the “smart feature” of any Smart TV. It will spy on you. That’s why you purchase a Fire Stick or other independent streaming device

With regards to 3. Whatever content that's not available on the Dish box is available from my computer. I guess my streaming device is the computer and a wire. Desktop in the office with a cable through the wall to the TV. Works great.

Appreciate the replies (yours included Midnighter) very much. I'm cutting the cable beginning of March. Im thinking Roku for the devices and YoutubeTV!!!! Frankly I thought Hulu with live TV was a little overpriced. Best to all!!

I don't agree that you have to know what you want to watch with the streaming services. With Hulu with live tv you can flip through the channels just like you do with cable.

I concur. I have the same setup as you. Hulu + Live, Netflix on multiple Firesticks in addition to a smart TV.

Two complaints. I have a Firestick on my smart TV because LG does not support a couple apps that I have. There is a significant voice/video lag over the Firestick on the LG that I cannot figure out. Also, there is evidently a common (not with everybody) glitch with Hulu through the Firestick that causes frequent freezes. The fix is to wipe your Firestick and reinstall. I have not invested the time and effort to do that yet. The time is coming though.

I do agree, it's much like watching cable at half the price.

Someone on this board recommended this site Suppose that helped us determine the best service(s) based on our preferences and budget.

We used to have a lot of problems with Hulu but we upgraded our internet a few months ago and haven't had a problem since.

I have Roku and YouTubeTV and am very happy with them. Also pay for some other streaming apps, Discovery+, Paramount+, Peacock and Netflix, still much cheaper than cable for me.

I have used Youtube TV for the last 3 years and it has been outstanding. I travel a lot for my job and when the hotel TV network doesn't have a particular network I want for games (BTN especially), I can call up the Youtube TV app on my phone or the website on my laptop and watch whatever game I'd normally watch at home. It also sets up great for having 2 screens going during football and basketball season. Between that and my internet hookup cost, I save at least $100 per month off what I had been paying with cable.

Looks like I will be doing the same thing. My Comcast bill had a huge jump in price this month, almost $28.00, and thats besides the $5 and $7 dollar monthy increases I've been seeing since last Oct. I'll keep their Internet but will get rid of their TV package.

I still use cable fwiw, no I dont like wasting money. OTOH Comcast is basically my only option for internet, so there's that. Although my wife is not stupid, this whole streaming thing and different remotes etc is something I dont thing she wants to fool with. Plus we do watch a lot of network TV. I guess we could get them over the air, but then that introduces another remote and what to switch when. So far its just been easier to ***** and keep playing the bill. If there was a way to get DR Pol easily, I know she would switch!

I do stream some things, and I like the Apple TV device to do that. Seems to work well, is easily upgraded, works like a charm when casting something.

Holy Ball!
I have read this thread and have a headache. I am in the same position as the OP and looking to switch. I am not a techno giant, and reading these replies, I ain't even close.

I dumped Spectrum Cable, Direct TV and Hughsnet, had to keep Spectrum Internet at home one (we own a second home). I signed up for Fiberoptic Internet through our electric company at the 2nd house and subscribed to YouTubeTV which we use at both homes. My net savings is $380 a month. No BS.

You could always get a traditional dvr that can handle over the air channels and has apps built in and integrated into it like a newer Tivo device or similar. Some of my parents neighbors (upper 80s) use one just fine and only one remote.
