With this latest Covid surge approaching some peoples mobility (either voluntary or involuntary) may be effected. Since some of us might have to return to binge watching TV temporary, could someone please transfer the thread from the old board on this subject to this board. I apologize for my lack of technical expertise in this matter.

If you have Amazon Prime, Bosch is a compelling watch. Netflix: Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. A lot of the other stuff you have to pay extra for.

Yea I just realized half the list I made was on showtime or hbo. I might have to try Bosch. Prob going to start watching it over winter break. Also looking forward to 1883. I love Sam Elliot and I also think Tim McGraw is a really good actor.

What streaming services do you have access to? Any premium cable channels? What kind of shows do you like? Any favorite actors or genres?

Without any answers to the above I recommend (to anyone):

Game of Thrones (HBO)
Justified (FX)
The Soprano's (HBO)
Deadwood (HBO)
The Americans (FX)
Mad Men (AMC)
Breaking Bad (AMC)
Better Call Saul (AMC)
LOST (Hulu)
Halt and Catch Fire (AMC)
Peaky Blinders (Netflix)
Succession (HBO)
Silicon Valley (HBO)

If you ask me, the best you can get are “The Wire,” and “Better Call Saul,” with the slightest of edges going to “Better Call Saul.” Kim Wexler, she is the most interesting and compelling character you’ll find anywhere. But “Breaking Bad” is meant to be watched before “Better Call Saul.”

Thanks, I have all the streaming services listed herein, plus about 500 million channels on the TV so I’m good to go. I’ll watch just about anything as I’m not particular. However the more flesh I see the better I like it.

Read a Bosch book or 3, added to my enjoyment considerably.

Well then - Game of Thrones will scratch that particular itch. The Soprano's too. Californication (HBO or Showtime) had a lot but I never got into the show.

More stuff that I would recommend, but with caveats:

Watchmen (HBO)
LOKI (Disney+)
Umbrella Academy (Netflix)
Doom Patrol (HBO Max)
Letterkenny Problems (Hulu)
Downton Abbey (PBS)
Emily in Paris (Netflix)

Tom - I second many of the opinions above, including Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Wire, Mad Men, The Sopranos and The Americans.

The Americans gets overlooked sometimes among the best, but it’s superb. It’s a spy drama set in 80’s at the height of the Cold War. However, it’s more about the decisions we make, consequences and the complexity of marriage.

Bonus - the lovely Keri Russell shows a considerable amount of flesh throughout. Plus, there is Nina. :p

The thread (there were actually several) was a long collection of posts. There isn't an easy way to transfer it from one board to another. I only transferred one thread from the old site, and I had to copy and paste that to do that.

There is a new thread on the same subject on this board that @Midnighter started.

I really liked the affair but I would agree it went off the rails. Also loved bloodline which I feel also went off the rails!

Ultimately I think The Affair was worth it. Last season was a bit weird but I like how everything was tied up. Worth noting eldest Solloway daughter Julia Goldani Telles was the star of the most recent season of The Girlfriend Experience…

If you can find this 4 yr series, it's a good one.

The premise of the series centres on the exploits of Benton Fraser, an officer in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) who travels south to Chicago to initially solve the murder of his father, Sergeant Robert Fraser. However, during his investigation he inadvertently stumbles upon a scheme by several corrupt members of the RCMP that results in the shutdown of a new dam and the loss of many jobs, resulting in him being permanently stationed as a liaison officer in the Canadian consulate, which is depicted as a stand-alone building rather than as the 24th floor of Two Prudential Plaza. During his time in Chicago, Fraser works alongside Raymond Vecchio - a tough, streetwise cop - in solving a series of cases around the city and occasionally across the border in Canada.

Fraser often differs in his manners, including his politeness and honesty, and his methods of solving crimes, but is determined and dogged in pursuing and bringing down suspects, including his ability to predict where they might attempt to escape. Alongside his partner in the Chicago Police Department, Fraser is accompanied at times by a deaf lip-reading half-wolf named Diefenbaker, whom he adopted after they saved his life

I watched the first 2 episodes and its interesting. I guess I'm a little surprised at the F bombs that are dropped in it.
Sam Elliot is good as is Isabel May. I like Thomas (LaMonica Garrett) and hope he has a bigger part in the upcoming episodes but I am having a very hard time understanding what he is saying.🤷‍♂️
Cinematography is gorgeous.

Agreed, the Cinematography on both 1883 and Yellowstone is magnificent. Even if at times there’s a weak storyline the natural scenery makes them enjoyably viewable.

Yes! Watched the first two episodes. Love Sam Elliot and Isabel May. I also hope LaMonica has a bigger role moving forward. I really like the show a lot so far. So funny you bring up the F bombs because it totally took me by surprise probably bc of the time period. Looks like filming was done in Texas and Montana. Very impressed with Tyler Sheridan!

What! You have never seen it? You have to give it a try. I personally think knowing how things are going with the present day Duttons in Yellowstone makes 1883 more compelling than I already find it.

LOL, no I am not a Kevin Costner fan so didn't bother with it but will have to give it a try.
My favorite Kevin Costner film was The Big Chill. ;)
Ok I kind of liked him in Silverdao, a very underrated cowboy movie.
