But it wasn't always like that. This retrospective on Batman's 1989 cinematic effort -- which essentially invented the Superhero Blockbuster genre -- is a worthwhile listen.

I'm kind of "Batman'd" out. But I'll probably give a look when it streams but I"m not going to the theater to see it.Will check this out. I'd say the modern superhero blockbuster genre started with X-Men in 2000 (Blade was released a couple years earlier but it was more an action/horror movie than a superhero movie). Before that, you had Batman and the Superman movies, but Marvel had been really tepid about their film efforts (they did release an R Rated Punisher film though with Dolph Lundgren) and once X-Men hit big they tested the waters with Iron Man. After Disney bought Marvel they became a juggernaut....
The Bruce Wayne backstory has always been an integral part of the films and it’s now played out. Without the backstory Batman is just another rich guy with a cool cave and a costume.I'm kind of "Batman'd" out. But I'll probably give a look when it streams but I"m not going to the theater to see it.
What I am interested in seeing is the new Dr. Strange and Morbius

Very much looking forward to Multiverse of Madness (Dr Strange 2)-- the whole thing was sort of setup by the Loki series on Disney + and manifested in the latest Spiderman movie.I'm kind of "Batman'd" out. But I'll probably give a look when it streams but I"m not going to the theater to see it.

I thought the Disney+ series were excellent and pretty much all dovetail with the upcoming movies.
