Per reports. It was initially reported that he had requested release from his LOI. His father responded that that was not the case...yet. He said they are "working though some things with Florida." Reports/Rumors are that it is NIL-related and that UF was unable to deliver what was initially promised. Classes started there on Monday and he's the only early enrollee who has yet to show. Tomorrow is the last day for drop/add.

If true...welcome to recruiting with NIL. It would be a major blow to UF's QB room, which is a good thing.

Unless things change we will see more like this each year. Truly sad what is happening to a sport that I used to love.

But we all know the universities are not involved 🤣

On another subject: do we have a legitimate shot at Wendal Gregrory? This kid is a stud and would be a huge get for us. 6'4" LB with speed. Another TE proto-type body on the field. I like it. What are our chances?

Hope they make him burn his transfer & he goes to a conference where we won't see him.

I took a little time to look through a couple of gaytor sites. Wanted to see how the fans were handling this.

I'll never feel sorry for them, but I understand their emotions right now. Pissed, upset, embarrassed. Blaming anyone and everyone for
what's going on with this recruit.

Thing is we, or any school, could face this kind of situation in the current recruiting wars. Billy N. really needed this to happen. This recruit was the face of the next class. No one can realistically blame a coach for it. You don't delay a press conference unless you think it's coming together.

And now, even if Rashada decides to enroll after all, there will always be a target on his back too just because of the nature of his jockeying with NIL
deals. He's kind of tainted in the fan's eyes. Might not be welcomed in the locker room either.

Very good point. Even if he reverses course and goes to UF, he's coming in with a "I'm here for me" attitude.

His NIL deal was reportedly in the $13 million range.

They ought to be pissed at whoever runs the collectives or the coaches who couldn't deliver on what was promised. Can't stand to see these guys picking schools based on the highest bidder but at the end of the day the coaches or collectives that promised him the money are the ones at fault as it's obvious they lied to him to get him to sign. If they force him to use his transfer I'd bet we'll see the first NIL lawsuit. Couldn't happen to a better bunch.

It does seem really odd to lie like that. It's not like you "trap" the kid for 3 or 4 years like you used to. With transferring, any failure to come through means the guy is gone immediately.

Meaning, you should promise what you can deliver. But that should always be true.

And was that a joke? 13 million? That is ridiculous.

I see contracts coming in the future. Kids will experience getting sued.

Who can really tell about the actual number. Some have reported $9 million, $11 million or $13 million.

I would assume the numbers are exaggerated b/c they have to be. Surely no team can afford to pay ONE player that much.

They need to start signing LOI in blood, so if you back out you lose your soul, or something.

They need to just let him go. It's not worth the hassle. He'll cause a media circus and be a cancer to the team. Unless... someone in the UF community is able to sweeten the pot for the guy.

Well they'll have to be 18 when they signed, but that certainly would be interesting. Especially to see what kind of damages the courts would come up with. Basically making an educated guess at what kind of financial losses the schools would suffer when they are supposed to be not-for-profit entities for tax reasons while also considering the deterrent value of what kind value the athlete has in other NIL opportunities. In other words. who cares about 300k in contractual damages when an other school is offering an NIL of 10 million? It's kind of like what happens with coaching contracts.

Whether he ends up backing out or not, this sure does create an awkward relationship between the QB and his new program. I suspect all this drama has lessened the odds that he will succeed at Florida.

Lets hope that part is true and the Gators never succeed with or without him. BUT he signs and they win 10-11 games with him those Gator chopper folks will treat him like he was the 1st to sign.

Without a doubt. I think it lessens his chances, but certainly doesn't close the door on them.
