Saw this. Love Foster. But, the setting has me concerned - too remote/unpopulated. First season was awesome because the setting was so rich and vital to the story. I am optimistic though.

Thinking Nic Pizzolazzo (series creator) is out now as well. Be interesting (if true) how that goes. Agree on the setting.

Agree somewhat on the setting but if there’s any doubt how that cold, dark, gloomy, snowy atmosphere can be a major advantage, then check out, if you haven’t by chance already, the following few series To kill time until TD. Trapped and the Valhalla Murders (both Netflix) are set in small town Iceland, and Fortitude (Amazon) set in coastal Norway. All are multiple seasons and really excellent.

Thanks - sounds good. But, Iceland has a much different vibe than the arctic (which I think is more like ‘The Thing’).

I’d think the arctic would be a good setting. Outsiders at a research station go missing in a tight knit small community. I can see the intrigue there.

Oh really??? If true - less optimistic.
Less optimistic if Pizzolatto isn’t involved? He is an ego beast who drove away Fukunuga and Pizzolatto was responsible for those stellar season 2 & 3 runs 😳 Let someone else try it.

He also wrote Season 1. I like Fukanaga, but this show is about the writing.

I'm in the minority, but S2 isn't bad if you named it something else. Having to follow S1 under the same moniker and then not even laying it out in similar fashion was a death knell.

S3 was an improvement, but probably should have been cut to 6 episodes with the material they had. Leaned too much on the alzheimers angle and not enough in the past when they story could have been fleshed out.

I still think we need Woody and Matthew back for one more case. Something else they did haunting em again, maybe tied to the original if somebody can write it good.

True Detective Season 1 was perhaps my favorite TV show ever. Seasons 2 and 3 were just garbage, in comparison. Kept watching, thinking maybe they'd recapture the magic at some point, but it never happened. We're far enough removed from Season 1 now that maybe I can watch Season 4 without comparing it to that storytelling.
