My younger brother and I had bunk beds. He had the top bunk. One day he had his legs hanging down and I grabbed then and yanked
and he fell straight forward and smacked the floor. Needless to say I got in big trouble.

I used to plead with my mom but always a hard no. Same story with a dirt bike, until I bought a Suzuki RM 125 and hid it in the hedgerows behind my house for over a year until discovery.
When we were DE retirement house shopping we found a 15 acre wooded creeked lot in newark walkable to the blue hens. I dreamed of dirt bikes for me n my boys. Sigh, it would have cost $100k to get utilities to the permitted house site, frugal moms crushed my dirt bike dreams

My brother and I slept in bunk beds in the mid 50’s. My two daughters slept in them as twin beds in late 90’s, early 2000’s. They were still in our one guest bedroom until about 10-15 years ago! The ladder showed up in the corner of a closet just a year or two ago. I think (??) the whole set-up is gone now.🤔

In our fraternity at Penn State we slept in bunk beds. We shared a study room with a roommate. Between two study rooms was a small “pad” room with two bunk beds for four guys.

Grew up as one of six - three boys, three girls in a 3BR ranch house. Boys had one room, girls had the other. The boys room was the smallest, like 8X10 small. My dad hand-built bunk beds in the room (3rd bed was a twin). Once all the kids moved out my dad had to cut the bed apart to get it out of the room.

I shared a bunk bed with my younger brother. Our beds had a little ladder to allow me to get to the upper bunk. Not much to tell except bunk beds allowed for more space in the room.

I always imagined I would turn it into a fort and also like a jungle-gym

I did. And I didn't have a brother. They were from Keystone Housing (I think that was the name of the local company) and they had little lathed baseball bats as the vertical supports at each end.

I shared one with my brother in a small 2br house. They were actually stackable twin beds, and one of them is in the guest bedroom at my parents house, so I get to relive the old days when I go to visit.
