Well yes, when every millennial grew up everything pointed towards college as an end result. You needed a bachelors at minimum to be able to compete with your peers for limited job opportunities. So everyone is forced to either pay whatever the university asks or take out student loans at a hefty interest rate. So basically, in order to be a responsible educated adult with a job you have to pay a - $50-100k bill first. The cost of higher education, housing, healthcare have all gone up way higher than wages over the last 50 years, so yeah, this is great.
