in 1775, after the rides of Paul Revere and William Dawes (who met up with Samuel Prescott; Prescott was the only one that actually got to Concord to warn the Patriots), shots were fired between the British regulars and the Patriots at Lexington and at Concord. This is considered the start of the American Revolution, and is still celebrated in Massachusetts as Patriots Day.

In 1995, a truck bomb in Oklahoma City killed 168 people and injured another 500.

In 1993, the 51-day siege at the Branch Davidian compound near Waco, Texas, ended as fire destroyed the structure after federal agents began smashing their way in; about 80 people, including two dozen children and sect leader David Koresh, were killed.

Yeah, I was going to post that also, but figured I would limit my macabre to just one post.

For Tom: John Adams convinced the Dutch Republic to recognize the USA
For the rest of you filthy animals: Marie Antoinette married (by proxy) the Dauphin of France

The weather forecasting thread disappeared.

Edit: now my radar was off since it was already said numerous times.

On 4/19/2023, a date which will live in infamy, one of the sexiest weather threads in meteorological history was lost due to political incorrectness. 😢😵💫😢

Why? Was a reason ever given?
@Tom McAndrew didn’t go into specifics but did make it clear it was not negotiable. It was good while it lasted. So weird that we could get every one of these pictures on our own but we’re all broken up about the thread being 86’d. I guess this says something, whatever it might be.

It says we are all a bunch of Pervs.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.
