Gonna be in Orlando with family including my PSU senior son and his girlfriend so thinking it’s a logical plan to go over to Tampa. Anyone else already thinking of going? Early thoughts on ticket strategy?
What site? In. Bought 5 tickets earlier today and will drive down from CLT.
If it was Vegas I was actually considering going to to bed at 10 and DVR'ing then waking up at 6 the next morning to watch the game.I'm so psyched. What a great bowl and matchup. I was dreading a 10:30 PM kickoff.....
January 1 is right again.
Ticketmaster was $80 all morning. What site?
Same here. I’m in LWR and the first is my birthday, so double win! I may just wait until that day to pick up tickets below face value, but we’ll see if I get them as a gift first.Hope to go since I'm right down the road. Seems like getting decent seats is a challenge.
Jeebus Big O, why wouldn't you go?Probably will go since I live about an hour away.
Mainly Coaching. Last time I spent money to go to a bowl game Franklin coached Penn State to a loss at the Citrus Bowl. Going for it on 4th down from PSU’s own 30 right at the beginning of the game. Franklins multitude of questionable/poor coaching decisions just makes watching the game less fun and frustrating for me. Don’t want to spend the big bucks to see an unprepared and unmotivated team go through the motions, like we witnessed many times this past season.Jeebus Big O, why wouldn't you go?

$400? I paid $494..... for 5 tickets. That includes taxes, fees, etc. Upper level, 5 rows up, 45 yard line.I can’t believe they want $400+ to see two at best mediocre teams. And the fact that it’s in Florida is a deal breaker for sure.
Feel free to offer recommendations for places to stay with wife and kids for bowl game. Clearwater or Tampa?
I have my wife and 3 kids aged 11-16. Right now, I have a reservation for 3 nights at Opal Sands in Clearwater. We have 2 queen beds and a sleeper sofa, which works for us. It's a bit more pricey than I wanted, at about $2100. I'd like to be around a grand, but I also want to be at a somewhat nice place that the family can enjoy. What is your budget for lodging? Assume you need multiple rooms right? Clearwater versus Tampa is a big difference with Clearwater offering more of a beach destination experience versus Tampa being more of a bigger city experience. They are very different.
If you have never been there, it’s a wonderful property. It’s a resort style property with a wonderful outside area on the Gulf. It’s in the southern end of the beach amongst a lot of development further down the beach. If you want to rent scooters, bikes, etc, you can do that next door under the garage of The Edge Hotel. If you want water based activities, you will have to walk to the circle when you come into Clearwater Beach from Route 60. At the circle, you can go on dolphin watch trips, fishing charters, jet skis, speed boat rides, etc. You will have a number of restaurants close by within walking distance. There is a Frenchy’s close (Frenchy’s Southbeach) to Opal along with a couple of places similar (Clearwater Oyster is one of them) to Frenchy’s. There is basic Italian down the street ( Gondalier). There are a couple of bar type places closeby (Brown Boxer II) that are wings and burgers type places. If you want fine dining, Forlini’s is upscale Italian, Bob Heilmans ( an institution), Caretta on the Gulf (inside the SandPearl), Colombia (right over the bridge in Sand Key). One place you want to go to is The Clearwater Bait and Tackle Tavern, very last place amongst the docks in the circle when you come in. It used to be a local treasure then got discovered.I have my wife and 3 kids aged 11-16. Right now, I have a reservation for 3 nights at Opal Sands in Clearwater. When I looked on Ticketmaster there were very few seats up for sale yesterday. Largely end zone blocks of seats. It was kind of weird, all the other bowls there was quite a selection; Went to vivid seats and got 4. Jesse Jane recommended vivid, and I couldn't refuse. What site?
I don’t like being that far from the field.$400? I paid $494..... for 5 tickets. That includes taxes, fees, etc. Upper level, 5 rows up, 45 yard line.
What big bucks are you spending if you live an hour away? Do you need a loan?Mainly Coaching. Last time I spent money to go to a bowl game Franklin coached Penn State to a loss at the Citrus Bowl.
