That graphic shows it. 4,608 FBS players with game experience, 2,872 with starting experience.I'm sure a lot of these were walk-ons and maybe some are FCS, not sure how that works, but with 134 FBS teams there were only a max of 11,390 scholarship players under the pre-NIL/transfer portal scholarship limits. So somewhere near half of scholarship players would have been in the portal. And of course that's not counting all the players threatening to enter the portal unless they got the number they wanted. Just crazy.
If each NFL team would take over 2 college teams as "farm teams", it would take care of almost all of P4 (?P5) college teams. It's time to end this ridiculous charade. Assuming my math is correct, which is questionable, at best.I just hope the portal stuff hasn’t been a distraction for these student athletes during exam time. Must be tough juggling those two things.
Concur, would love to see something like this. Maybe even coach exchanges, etc., (i .e., an NFL DC can mentor a young college DC).If each NFL team would take over 2 college teams as "farm teams", it would take care of almost all of P4 (?P5) college teams.
