Over the years, I've seen many posts asking for prayers and I always appreciate seeing the board coming together. I never thought I would be the one asking for good wishes from my fellow PSU posters.

Our second daughter of three has lymphoma. She's a junior at the University of New Mexico. I know everyone says their daughter is special or bright and pretty and in some cases there is probably a bias but in our case she got Mom's genes and is a wonderful, very likeable/personable and pretty young lady who has never given her mom and I any angst. I stood in awe of her decision to go to school 1700 miles away, not knowing a soul. Here I thought going to PSU with a bunch of my hs buddies was big step. She has a wonderful set of friends, a 3.5 GPA and was planning to go to grad school and then possibly on to a PH.D. in the emerging field of forensic psychology. A smart, beautiful young lady with a plan (again Mom's genes no doubt).

Today, she finishes her first round of chemo in New Mexico. If everything checks out in the next few days, her and my wife can begin a drive back home. I ask that you send a prayer up to the big guy/gal for some treatment success. We've been told its treatable but I'd like her to get well and have no complications so they can be home for Christmas. She'll receive treatment at Duke for 6-9 months but we have to get thru this first round. I believe in the power of good thoughts, not sure why but its a karma thing and who am I to question the power of prayer?

Sending positive thoughts man. If you don't mind me asking, is it a specific type of lymphoma?

Wishing nothing but the best for your daughter Apex. I don't even want to think about the sheer horror you and your wife (and others) are going though right now. Stay strong as best you can.

My sister went through it and is 10 years cancer free. Prayers that your daughter sees the same results.

Apex, so sorry to read this this morning. The bonds between daddies and daughters are special, so I know you are more worried than you are letting on right now. She sounds like an awesome young woman! Sending prayers for your daughter specifically for her return to health, and your family for the strength to face and overcome this challenge. I look forward to the future good news of her overcoming this obstacle!

Stage 2 five spots, one large orange size tumor on lung is the main issue.

Apex, ouch, a punch to the gut. I've always enjoyed reading about your kids.

I'll hold your daughter in the light, and hope that her treatments are successful and that she gets past this and continues to make her siblings, her mom, and you proud.

Thank you Tom. This was out of the blue. She had been tired this semester but nothing too dramatic - no fevers, a slight cough here and there. We wondered if it was long-term covid. Once they diagnosed, they moved fast thankfully. The other three kids are hanging in there. Our oldest is at the University of Cincinnati med school and has been very, doctor-like in helping Mom and I. The other two have been great playing games on their phones with their ailing sister and keeping her spirits up.

Yes.. done and done. As I type this I am on my way on the Acela headed to NYC from Boston to have dinner with my only daughter, 21 yr old student at NYU. I am going to keep your daughter in my prayers, and hold mine a little tighter.

If you want to laugh a little... Often times I will say to my little girl, "You are my favorite child" to which she would respond, "Daddy I'm you only child"... and I would respond "Well, I spent a lot of time in Vegas in the 90s, I wouldn't be so sure".

God bless...

When we signed up to be parents, we signed up for the rest of our days. Love them fiercely and completely, without judgement.
And there is nothing on this Earth harder to deal with than a sick kid.

About 2 months ago my son was diagnosed with a 13mm mass in his brain. It was the most difficult week of my life until we learned, thankfully, that it was a benign cyst with additional tests.

My prayers are with Apex and any parent with a seriously ill child no matter their age.

Hey Apex buddy, good thoughts for her and for your wife sure and we will keep you in our thoughts as well. Stay positive and continue to be the rock that you are. Let us know if there is anything we can do.

Also, she sounds like a wonderful young woman. We could use a few more intelligent, accomplished young people with a sense of adventure and independence. Good for her. Very impressive.

Hang in there.

Thanks @Tgar. Much appreciated. She just finished day 15 today so the first round is over. Some monitoring for a few days and we'll go from there. And you're right -- young people can give us hope.
