Thinking about our "rivalry" with Alabama and the other thread about the future of college football, inspired me to research winsipedia to find some of the most lopsided rivalries in the P5 conferences. I used only those rivalries with a signficant number of games played....

I can never remember how many times we’ve actually beaten those bastards on the field, forget the p*ssified forfeits. Is it 15? 16?

That's us on there 3 times?

Ugh.
I just added UGA because I thought yall would interested. But if you research all P5 rivalries with less than 30 games played, there would be other teams that show up 3x or more. Like Rutgers and Maryland for instance, they aren't having a good start in the B1G.

I'm finding it surprising that Ole Miss actually played Alabama 67 times as much as Bryant and Vaught avoided each other for mutual benefit.
As an aside to this the great Vaught played Alabama a whopping 6 times with a losing record. Auburn 5 times. Florida 6, Georgia 7. But Kentucky 27, MSU 25, Tulane 18, and Vandy 22 times.

Back in the days you set your own schedule State Stepped up and played people. How many times did Ole Miss play Alabama before they were forced too?

I could present the info different to make a point. But here is what I see.... there are a few teams in the B1G and SEC that have no chance of defeating the other in a football game, regardless if the TV money grows to $100 million per share.

You can see Mizz, Rutgers, Maryland have terrible records vs UGA, OHSt and Mich. nothing is changing that. So what's the point of keeping these conferences going forward? Other than giving the blue bloods an easy win and bottom tier a check for other sports.

I did look forward to this game in the 90s. Not so much now. I'll be glad to have a break from Bama. But Oklahoma looms.....

I try to spread this info when I can. Their “tradition” is a facade. Fake. Trash.

12 wins to 18 losses, but winning 3 out of the last 5
That’s pretty good considering the 1-11 stretch from 2001-2011 which was brought on by the late Sherrill / Croom debacles, and the aftermath of each. Only in 2010 did we lose to them with an actual good team during that stretch. 2009 L under Mullen was due to Croom’s leftovers, and 2011 L was due largely to Croom’s awful OL recruiting in his last few seasons which sunk that entire season.

For perspective, Rice is 21-75-1 against Texas for a .216 win percentage. To those that don't immediately get the history reference, JFK used the one-sidedness of this Rivalry to justify going to the moon.

Interesting. I'd never heard this bit of trivia before.

If I'm Oklahoma State, I think I'm glad to see Bedlam go. Woof.
I work with a guy who's an Okie State grad, and I've commented before how there's a zero percent chance that a Mississippi State or Ole Miss coach would survive like Gundy has and even be beloved with an Egg Bowl record like Gundy's Bedlam record. That's Bizarro World stuff.

Maybe we could learn from that?

Gundy is a dang good coach, and outside of the fact that we made that lucky SEC decision many years ago and benefit from that money, it's hard to fathom how Gundy's tenure at OSU hasn't been better than MSU's since that time. And now, considering they'll still get decent money from the Big 12 and no longer have to play OU, they could thrive even more.

Similar to aTm after they left Texas. I am not at all surprised at how mad aTm was when Texas was announced as the next SEC member.

Infamous aTm cheer from year's ago (whole stadium yelling this):

We should have not fired Felker???***

Even though those two teams are in the same state, I've never seen them as equal programs. So the series history makes sense.

Although, OkSt has incredible facilities from T Boone money. They are more on Mississippi States level as far as revenue and success. Oklahoma isn't far off from Bama.
